Do you think this winch mount will be strong enough?
I'm trying to keep it as close to the radiator as possible. With this mount the winch will stick out 3.5" from the front of the crossmember, I plan on plating the front crossmember to add strength, but what else should I do?

the front of toyota frames are kinda weak  id run some triangle braces down the top of the frame.  the drivers side will be a little tricky depending on how your box is mounted  but  it honestly needs it imo.  the solid axle frames love to crack right behind that front cross member and with the loads that the winch are going to put on it..  gonna be alot worse than normal.  just IMO   otherwise  looks good !

I've also thought about replacing the front crossmember with 2"x2"x.125 box steel and work off of that.

you shouldnt need to but it couldnt hurt.  let me dig through my pics and see if i can find a pic of my old mount, it was setup for a removeable winch place setup but the same idea applies

Cant find anything =\   but you pretty much have the same thing going as i did on my old truck  less the top braces which i think you need since you are running stock spring hangers and theres no good way to brace the under side of the frame  from breaking  (drop hanger makes this a piece of cake)   but id say you are set

Do you have gussets to the X-member from the frame?   If you could put some in there, I dont see any reason it wouldnt work...

I'm either going to gusset the hell out of the stock crossmember and plate it as well, or just tear it out and replace it and gusset that, either way there will be some strengthing work done...

Why don't ya just get a Marlin front bumper?  Already set up for a winch!  Just bolt it up!
