I know this is probably not the place for this, but I need a lil' bashing.. I purchased one of trail gears "creeper breathers" and made a 50 mile round trip to my fav. wheeling spot and back. When I got home I was cleaning the bed out when I noticed something dripping from my shock hanger. I bent down and gasped at the sight of gear oil covering every square inch of my axle, bed, shocks, etc... This is the axle that I just installed Marlin's built differential w/ arb air locker. Front Ranges full floater kit w/ custom Longfields. To say I've dumped alot of money into this axle would be an understatement. If trail gears $20 part has harmed my axle I will punch a kitten right in the face. When I pulled their breather off there was an expulsion of air that sounded like I just pulled the purge valve on my compressor. Was wondering if anyone had ever used this product with same results or if mine was an isolated incident?

I would say toss that thing in the trash and run a vacuum line up to the shock tower with a regular ol' breather on it.

A female end brakeline threads into those puppies. :] Im running brakelines out of mine with the male end cut off and im going to butt connect more tubing onto it and bring them way up out of the way with little breathers

i would only run the trial gear breather on a trail only rig..where it does not heat up as much as a street driven car will..but u should do a leakdown test and make sure ur arb aint leakin!!!

I wouldn't run them at all, no need for them when a piece of rubber hose and a brake line end is a better setup anyways.

And they look like some kind of slinky is protruding from the housing...

yotatough

I never saw a need for them. Just like everyone else, just run some rubber line up under the bed.

the only helpful thing in that creeper breather kit would be that barb fitting.

for an extra 10-15 bucks you could of bought the breather tube kit from marlin

Steve_925

so with all of your guys hoses what happens when you roll? your fluid ends up evrywhere, i run the same thing but with a mini air filter on the end of it. when i roll i still leak oil out.

i ran one of those breathers in the rear of mine and it blew the gasket sealer out of the third. on the other hand i know plenty of people that run them without a problem. but yes i would say they are best set for you front diff and/or on trail rig only

I put a fuel filter in the end of mine.  If oil makes it up that far atleast it will be absorbed somewhat..

Rocksurfer

I don't roll it, ever. :gap:

I stick the oem breather back on the end of the hose.

Yeah, I am running rubber tubing into the engine bay on my front axle, I just saw this thing and thought I would give it a try... I have now gone with the rubber hose on my rear as well (that just sounds wrong)

luckily the locker's not leakin

Good deal, some things are just ooooh that's cool looking. Kinda like a rear wing on a 4 door Nissan Sentra, some may think it looks cool but it is actually worthless.

I run'em on my truck front and rear and have had no problems and no water in my oil. When installed i decompressed them slightly maybe that helped.

Rocksurfer

I don't run 'em and don't get any water either, just a cool factor add on as far as I'm concerned.

An 1/8 npt pipe fitting screws right in there. I just have a brass barbed fitting with a rubber hose runnin up to the frame. It runs about two dollars and you won't have that big old dildo looking thing bouncing all over your axle.

the-t-man

i have been running them for 2 years or so, only time something like that happened is the arb seal housing or copper line rubbed a hole and pressurized the front diff..
