On location when I got it. Had to do a little work just to get it rolling for the trailer ride home.

It came with a 3" body lift and drivetrain lift. Gas tank and horse collar removed. I put it all back to stock locations.
Before

After

Modified stock Driveshafts. This front will be my spare. I'm making a square one to ride on.

For those that haven't. This is how that starts. Then follow up with the correct length 2 1/2" Sch40

I picked up a set of 35" bfg's on the chrome 15 x 10s for $100. The tires were barely usable. While looking for a couple good ones, I ran across the tires I really wanted for $200. 5 Bias Iroks in the 36" flavor.

Now I think I need to work on the springs. The 63" chevy's are the 5 leafs w/ no over load. I'm thinking I need to remove one of the leafs(not sure which one) and then add a shortened overload for a small amount of lift back. It currently has 2" lift blocks and I'm not rolling with lift blocks. This rig is for going slow and steady. Maybe I'll leave them alone. I'll listen to more experienced advice.

The fronts are straight off the back. I need to add 1 leaf at least.

I do have a pair of AIsin hubs to go on yet.

Got one of the Ford towers burned back on. It was there before but I had to cut it off to lower the motor and install it back on at a better angle.

I moved the steering box all the way forward. and tilted down to get the end of the pitman arm as close to the frame as possible. If I did it again I would order a flat pitman arm. Also had to build a custom pressure hose.

Looks like we at close to same points in our builds. On the pitman issue, u can do wat I did with a 2wd and 4x4 one, to get the prefect drop for wat u need. Just sayin, cuz like sum told me, it looks like mine, and will prob hit when you stuff that side. Looks good tho

Air compressor went bad so it cut my day short.
Went from 5 leaf/ no overloads to 3 leaf/ overloads. Also removed the cheese blocks. I knew it would sag in the rear. But that's the way it will be until I figure something else out.

Also got the Iroks mounted up. Waiting to finish paint until the rear fenders are trimmed. I need to borrow a mig. All I have is an old lincoln stick welder.

I like that light blue.  What kind of paint are you using?

Not a good weekend. Spent the grocery money on a new air compressor. Pulled the front axle out and welded the new knuckle gussets/ shock tabs on. I took my time a burned them in real nice. Removed the 4runner add a leaf and added two short leafs and 3/8" spacer to the driver's side. Bolted the axle back in and one of the square bottomed u bolts strips. Then I notice the shock tabs are to far forward on the axle. I only get a couple hours at a time to work on it. I bit off more than my two hours could chew and now I'll spend eight hours + $$ fixing it.

twistedtoy92

gotta love that :pokinit: ........ runners lookin good though!

ehh...it's not as bad as I thought. The shock tabs will work. I need to replace the driver's side U bolts. Might end up with some round ones unless I can find the square ones local. Here's the offending Ubolt and the driverside spring with 3/8" zero rate add a leaf (leaf cut down). This evens up the toyota lean pretty good.

THK Matt

you've inspired me NFZ, I really like that blue as a truck color.

To do list by Oct 23rd:

Have to--
-Extended brake lines for front
-fix exhaust leak and install muffler and tailpipe section
-gear oil to the trans
-finish rear fenders
- reinstall drivers side slider.
- install battery hold down

Should--
-swap warns for stock hubs (have them)
-finish paint (have it)
-replace the custom pressure hose for stock-which means more cutting of radiator support.
-build square driveshaft-have materials

noflyzone

I meant to take more pics during the process but I always forget. I still have a couple loose ends to tie up. Rear shocks, finish rear fenders,....

I love that in full color! I knew I'd find a use for my cans of Coral Blue, past trim!

Hey, I'm back again. I had to park for a while to spend money on some other things. Planning on getting lots of use out of it this fall though.
I need to balance those chunked and worn out Iroks. Thinking about a pound of bbs in each will do it. Going with some shorter front shackles in hopes of correcting some caster angle. I need to get a bumper on there. I bashed the drivers headlight bucket in being stupid a t Hale mtn.

The paint go on good? I always get clear streaks. Looks good though. Anything change from your October post?

I'm not picky about the paint. It has places all over where It went on "dry" THe coverage is really good out of those big cans. I could probably wet sand and buff it out if I felt the need.

THe biggest change is that it has its license plate on it now. O h yeah and a chrome grill.

Still alive although not much can kill it sitting in the driveway. Working twice as much for half the money to spend it on stuff to stay alive that cost twice as much takes away from fun stuff.

Managed to spend a little and half been using a little free elbow grease.

New winch plate bent on friends 300 ton press brake.

Had some spring wrap problems and still battleing death wobble so I decided to build some new spring packs and take everything apart and to check everything as I reassembled. Death wobble gone and going to check for spring wrap at Windrock in March.

This is how it sits loaded up with spare tire, tools and spare parts.

I want to level it out but dont want to lose the 3" of uptravel I have in the front end. Suggestions?
