depends on what you are going to be welding. I would hold out for a 135 or larger that way you can weld up to about 1/4" my Miller auto set 135 works great. They make a machine that will run on either 110v or 220v that came out rite after I got mine and I wish I had gotten that one. Also if you can use it get a 220v machine.

Do you portable? Or just plan to weld at home?
I have a lincoln 135t. With proper metal prep Ive had no problems welding 3/8 plate with 100% penitration.
Its a 120volt input, I use 100 % co2 for shielding gas and 030 wire.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Love my Miller 180 with Autoset.

I'm also a cadet at Mass Maritime Academy and ALL we use are Millers.

scratched the idea of the lincoln, gettin a hobart 187 or 210 on the 10th, read lotsa good reviews on both. The 210 is capable of a spool gun tho, so leanin towards that

great choice!  I like mine alot.  The 187 is capable of spool gun too, but you have to spend more money to get it setup.  I know I would hardly ever use a spool gun at home so i'm not worried about it.

Are you really as stupid as you sound?  You never have anything to add. No wonder they stopped accepting GED's in the military.

if your lookin to go all out on a mig welder that will last you forever go with a Miller 350P. very versitile welder that i use everyday. if your lookin for a multi process welder go with the the 350 MPA. Amazing machine that can do •MIG (GMAW)
•Pulsed MIG (GMAW-P)*
•TIG (GTAW)
•Stick (SMAW)
•Flux Cored (FCAW)
•Air Carbon Arc (CAC-A) Cutting and Gouging

you will fall in love

Anf for your info, I scored a 92 on the asvab sir, the militray wanted me bad, wud have gone, but got in trouble

Asks the pot to the kettle?  You only make negative posts and lash out at others.  Sorry your life sucks, or that you suck at life, but you've become little more than a black eye on this site.  Do some yoga, hug a hippie, just do whatever it takes to gain a more positive outlook on life or take care of your issues  ;)

Well I purchased the 210, because I was worried about the welder not being hot enough. It is a TAP machine, meaning, it only has certain selections for voltage. my machine goes to setting 7, and I am not even able to turn it past 3, or it will just burn through a truck frame. So I went way overkill on my welder. Yes, 90 pecent of a welds strength is gonna be based on the welders skilll level, and preperation of the metal. I use flux core, not mig, as its more forgiving on metal prep, can use in wind, and is just a lil hotter than mig. Its actually not hard to weld, just practice, and learn the basics. Its like riding a bike, only way to get better, is to do it.

Ive found that a welder that can do it all, just doesnt do each type of welding as good as a welder that does one thing only.
