That is an interesting photo.

First, it’s a vertical, so I assume taken with a cell phone.

I am not a “grillmaster” by any stretch, although I have been complimented by my guests on what they eat from my grill.

I also learned that there are several key features of a propane grill that really makes a difference in my grilling experience.

The grill appears to have never been cleaned.

There are large flames coming off the base plate. Those flames are not propane flames.  I’m guessing they are from the grease that is covered on the grate and base plate.

I always try very hard not to let any flames actually touch the food.

The meat patties look pretty good.  With ground meat, I prefer almost no pink.

My meat that I grill will go right from the refrigerator directly onto the grill that is a lower than searing temperature.  After about 5 minutes at a lower than sear temp, I will increase the grill flames to get the searing I want on the meat.

When I prep my grill, I always use my scrapper brush to get the previous stuff off.  Then I wipe the grate down with a paper towel soaked with vegetable oil.  I turn on the propane and fire it up.  I let the grill get to about 500 degrees and then turn the gas down to low.

Is it better to never clean my grill, and let the grease flames lick the meat?  :dunno:

If anyone is worried about ground meat for things such as e.coli they should grind there own.  The e.coli lives on the surface of the meat so when cut it is on the outside of the steak.  When ground it now mixed through all.

Eat your food the way you like.  I like burgers medium rare.  But I know a friend who raises cattle I get beef from him.  Grass fed on Kauai.  Clean.
