That is really clean bud.  You gonna keep it somewhat stock looking ? Heck even the paint looks cherry.

Steve_925

gonna try not to cut too much. im moving the body farther back on the frame so i shouldnt have to cut too much. i may be running a first gen bed tho. the paint is pretty good, but somone spray painted a really brighter and cheezy looking yellow on different parts of the truck so it kinda ruined the paint. it for my dad and he rides bikes so im thinking harley orange and black

Nice That color would look sweet on it.  Tho that spray paint can easily be removed without hurting the paint under it.  Ive never looked at the lines on a pre 79, will the body lines be close or the same ? For some reason I thought they were much more flat then the 4x4 and no fender flairs but those arent to hard to find. I have a spare set here I was gonna clean so they were just the standard flat black. One of these days I will have to cruise out there and take a look at your rigs.

I soo wanted to go and pick that thing up. I'm glad someone will continue to build on it. It's a great find.

Steve_925

just did the exhaust. waiting on rocky so i can take the fror x member plate thats on his that he isnt using, and make an xmember for my truck. getting a t100 axle tomorrow. just ordered a bunch of axle parts. still contemplating building an anti-wrap bar. also contemplating if i want to do alot of work to keep the hilux bed or just use the 1st gen bed. parts should be flooding in over the next week and i just quit my job so ill be crackin on this for a couple weeks.

Mavericks

Keep up the good work! I really like the look of the grill and 4 round lights on these old trucks.
1985 toyota SR5, 22re,  5.29's locked front and rear, duals with twin stick, longfields.

motormouth559

looks good man did that efi gas tank work for you ?

Steve_925

we just got the cab on the other frame and had to cut the :pokinit: out of it to make it fit without a body lift. the gas tank bolted right up. now i have to weld the body mounts back on the frame and then build a tunnel and then its time for wiring the engine

Damn I didn't even know you were building this thing.

You gonna register it with the 76 VIN so you don't have to smog it?

well its been crunch time for the last week. been waiting for and ordering parts like crazy. the cab is on and mounted, timing chain done, the engine is wired up and runs, lights, turn signals etc are all hooked up, bed mounts are made, my dad body finished the bob, hoods on carpet is in, inside of cab is painted, one slider is on one is ready to go on. finally got the built thirds today,
front high pinion arb and rear v6 Detroit....the perfect combo! got the front third in, compressor wired up and everything plumbed, longs are in, hydro assist is hooked up.
37x12.5x17 KM2s are on the way, already got the pro comp black aluminum wheels(hope they are good cuz i hate pro comp)
ran into a problem today. i went to remove the factory oil press sender and it broke off, so i drilled it and broke off an EZout in there, so i then drilled it out even more and tapped it to 1/4npt. i just hope the metal shavings dont clog up any oil galleys
