Hey my name is Kyle.  I've been wheeling for a couple years now, and am on my second Toyota truck.  The forum I was on previously was great when I had my Tacoma, but just doesn't do it for me anymore.  So I knew this place would have some similarly built rigs.  Looks like there are a few guys from Colorado here that go wheeling, so that's perfect.

Specs on my rig:
'80 Pickup
20R engine, w/ Weber carb, headers, etc
Custom tube bed (in progress still)
5.29 gears
Lockrite front, Detroit rear
Rears up front, Modified Tacoma pack rear
Front axle has: 27 spline chromo, high steer, full gusseting, 1.5" spacers
Rear axle is stock IFS width
37x12.5x15 Goodyear MTRs
Dual ultimate crawler

In the plans:  Links, exo cage, selectable front locker and longfields.

One of the tube bed in progress.....gotta get that finished sometime...

Oh and the virtual version...

'80 Pickup, 5VZ-FE engine, A340F transmission, Marlin gear drive adapter, Dual Ultimate transfer cases, 5.29 gears, Detroit rear/Lockrite front locker, 37" Goodyear MTRs, XRC8 winch, custom tube bed and armor

Fort Collins....or Arvada....or Bellvue...depending on when you talk to me.  Long story.  But I'm primarily living on the CSU campus, and my truck is in Bellvue.

Im downloading that game lol.

Quick Draw

It's a pretty cool game.  You can get it free from rigsofrods.com.  Then you can download a 1980 Pickup.  I modified mine to have real world gear ratios, including 1st gear in 2.28, 4.7, and 10.7 low range gears to model a dual ultimate setup.  I also made it blue, gave it lockers, and tuned the torque setting to be similar to the slow acceleration and low top speed of my truck.  It actually drives pretty realistically.  If anybody downloads the game and wants the file for my truck with the corrected gear ratios, let me know.

Id like to have the gears and how do you down load the 1980 toyota and modify it?

Go here and download:
http://repository.rigsofrods.com/show/1980Yota.zip

Put the file in the vehicles folder.  Or follow the instructions on the website.

Then to make your own modified version:

Open one of the four .truck files in the "1980Yota" zip file that you just downloaded.  I modified the "YotaFlatbed.truck" file.  Open it with WordPad.  This will give you text for the codes on how the vehicle behaves.  Find the section labeled "engine" and replace it with this text:

engine
;min rpm, max rpm, torque, differential ratio, rear gear, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth
900.0, 2100.0, 1025, 5.29, 18.5, 18.5, 42.1, 18.5, 9, 3.928, 2.333, 1.451, 1, 0.851, -1.0

I have the reverse ratio as though you are reversing in 4.7 low range, because it makes crawling easier.  Then the first 3 forward gears are low range.  The high range gears begin at 4.  So there are 8 total.  If you press 'Q' and change the shifting to manual in game play, it will make driving much easier.

Then to add lockers:

Put this text in between the sections labeled "meshwheels" and "shocks"

axles
w1(7 6), w2(4 5), d(ol) ; axle 1
w1(3 2), w2(1 0), d(ol) ; axle 2

Now change the very first line at the top that says the name of the vehicle to whatever you want.  I chose "Doris" because that is my truck's name, according to my friends...  So when I search for vehicles in the game, I just go to "Doris" to use it.

Finally, save the file as something.truck and place it in the 1980 Yota zip file.

Here's a good guide on how to modify any vehicle:
http://wiki.rigsofrods.com/pages/Truck_Description_File

Oh and if you can't get the lockers to turn off and on, you have to add 'W' as a key command for the lockers.  I forget how to do this, but the information is online somewhere....otherwise I never would have figured it out.

I don't mean to come off as a computer nerd....I really don't know much about computers at all.  Just found that game, and it completely entertains me to drive around a virtual version of my truck.  Then I just had to mod it, like everything else I do.  Someday I will learn to change the actual structure of the vehicle to ditch that stupid looking front bumper and modify the flatbed....but fortunately I have more important things to do for now.

I'm planning on it for sure, Aaron.  But as those things go, it depends on my truck being in one piece at that given time.  Now that I've worked the post-build bugs out a bit, the odds are better.  BTW, had to laugh about whose event calendar that showed up on, if you know what I mean...

Just don't go tearing up your truck in July :D  Yup, I had a good laugh about that as well.  It's not going to get "officially" posted there either.

It's "they".  It going to be fun to see what AZ does to one of their rigs & it took the other one 50+ hours to put an axle back under their truck because you might as well link it if you're going to have to go through all the trouble of welding spring & shackle hangers and hanging leaf springs.  Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Heh....yeah that was me...  I was a dumbass.  I'm sorry.

In my defense I had like 4 spotters yelling different things at me....2 of them were saying I needed to "bump it".  I couldn't see where the hell I was.  I smacked once...  "Oh its fine.  More passenger and you'll miss it."  I smacked twice...  "Are you sure its okay?"  "Yeah you almost came up that time."  I smacked a third time... "Shut it off, radiator!  You dumbass, why did you hit that rock over and over?"  "Because you told me to?"

I assume you're referring to this "incident"

Next time you get into a situation like that, pick one spotter you trust and go with what they say.  It is overwhelming to have 2-3-4 people shouting spotting directions.  I've told people "thanks for the help but I'm going to let "whatshisface" spot me" after getting multiple spotting directions.  People just like to help out on the trail and I completely understand that.

I've actually gotten to a point that I don't need a spotter on 95% of the stuff I wheel.  If I feel that I need a spot, I ask for one.
