For all you with Lockrights up front
« on: Nov 15, 2004, 08:45:06 PM »
You guys ever get a LOUD pop from the front end?  im guessing this is the locker disengauging after being on a load or something. Wondering if its something i should be checking into or just something thats normal?

TIA.

If it's ongoing pops over and over like crazy then it is the pins inside the locker that are broken.  My front lockright did that so i took it out.  3 of the 4 pins were broken.  It didn't do it when it was going straight just turning.  But it shook the whole truck badly.

i had that problem a few months back. turns out my axle housing was bent (82 housing) and caused my locker to fail. luckily, quicklock's have lifetime warranty : )

Completely NORMAL.

In fact when it pops you sware you broke something. You didn't! They are loud and scary but you will get use to it. I'm running 5.29s and mine pops all the time. It is a good working unit. I found mine works better with synthetic gear lube. I run Synergin racing gear lube.

Hey Shamb,

I just installed a lockrite in my front end and I've got about 5 miles on it so far :)

But when I got the truck back together, I tested it out on our ramp and sure enough, it was clicking and poping. I thought I had left some metal in and it was binding on the birfield or something but no its just some normal sound from the lockrite I guess. Sunday Im gonna test it out, check for a new thread in the trail report section on Sunday regarding the Fig Orchard.

Bolt: With the syn gear lube, does it feel like its "less" present? Driving around in the parking lot, I did alot of turning on purpose to see how its going to react to tight turing areas, and after the turn when I would straighten out, it still wanted to pull into the direction that I was just turning.

Also, my lockrite is used but I replaced the pins and the springs in it so its like new.
