:headscratch: I only hear it when I turn the wheel. Definately coming from the right front. Everything is tight :screwy: I can't imagine it being a birfield since I just lightly wheeled it this weekend. I didn't really put it in a position where I even needed the front end pulling hard. Guess I have to take apart  :snare:  :maddest:

Is it a bad pop?  does it jurk the whole truck or is it bearly noticable?  Does it do it all the time or just once or twice?

Barely noticeable, but there, no binding of any kind just a pop when I turn the wheel left or right. I thought it was a spring shifting at first but when I turned the wheel while sitting still it still did it. I then had my wife turn the wheel while I was under the front & it's definately comong from inside the right knuckle.

Is it only when the hubs are engaged? Any difference if the hubs are engaged, 2WD vs 4WD?

If its only occuring when the hubs are engaged, then it could be a cracked birfield. This is very typical on front wheel cars with high mileage because the cv-joints on the cars are always being used. Even the slightest crack or deformity on the joint and it will bind and pop when turning and under torque..

I had the same issue with my 84 both times I killed the lower trunion bearings.  Jack it up and give it the old shake test, my bets on there being a bunch of play caused by wasted bearings.

Doesn't matter if locked or not same pop when turning the wheel left or right.

Well that's good news - its not related to your birfield/third member/driveline/etc - unless your hubs have problems and they dont disengage

How are your motor mounts?

Not an internal problem at all-worse as far as i'm concerned. Cracked frame at the spring hanger alowing the spring to pivot side to side just enough to have the second leaf slide back & forth & pop- it was moving so slightly I didn't even see it. I put my hand on the spring as we turneds the wheel again today and I felt it move just a mm or 2. I then watched the spring and checked th shackle & hanfger and found the crack in the frame near the spring hanger up front. I be welding tonight! :nerv:
