95 2wd Taco Build
« on: Oct 03, 2009, 09:36:27 PM »
Here is goes..

I am starting off with a 95 Tacoma 2wd 3.4 speed(only 120,000miles super clean :shocking:)..  I am going to run a high pinion 44 front and use a Taco box adapter and taco rear case.. I have a turbo r151f tranny so i wont need a adapter from tranny to first case..  I will post a bunch more plans tomorrow..  So the build will begin in the next few days..  I am getting all my parts together now ..  I will start with narrowing the 44 and getting the tcase stuff built..  Off to bed now but will get more up tomorrow..  I figured I would start the thread now before I try to sell it like I do everything else :hammerhead:

Here is a starting pic

Either 65 or 62..  Kinda depends on what I do for a rear.. If I use the taco rear I have it will be 62"..  If I use a t-100 rear it will be 65 or 66"..  hmmm  Off to look of r a t-100 rear:D

It does work really well on the street now thats for sure:D

As far as the axles are concerned I figure I will do it the way I really want out out of the gate..  I ford high pinion is for me the ultimate way to go..  I have a source for a waggy front though if the HP does not pan out.  But these 44's are really easy to narrow..  I have a complete chevy front 44 and will use the 6 lug outers from it so it will be a little bit of a hybrid

As far as the rear, Well I all ready have a a 6 lug 60" wide taco axle,  But I would really like to find a t-100 or 05 and later taco elocker rear..  they are both 66" wide..  Even though these are full width I will still drive this everwhere on the street so I will get creative with som tube near the wheel openings to keep it a little more "legal" if I go with the wider axles

The next thing I am debating is If i want to bob the bed at all?? I Like the shorter bed for the departure for sure but at the same time am a little slow to go cutting a PERFECT bed up :hammerhead:  Either way i think it will get cut  some though..  I will more than likely do the flat cut on the bottom half of the rear part of the bed and do a Wrap around rear bumper..  So if i do that I might as well make it a little shorter too.. Anybodyknow the length of a Double cab bed?  Maybe I will make it that length..

I bobbed mine 8" and cut the bottom.  I believe a double cab bed is 13" shorter than ours.

Just a heads up. Believe or not I saw 3 T-100's and 1 Tundra all with complete rear ends at pick n pull in south Sac yesterday. They are geting a lot cash for clunkers vehicles there right now. I also saw at least 4 IFS steering boxes and 2 V6 8" thirds. There are probably close to 10 2nd gen 4runners out there.
