So my wife finally bought the Olympus PEN E-PL1  we've been reading through the manual for the past two days. Figured some stuff out but we're having a hard time taking moving pictures w/o them turning out really blurry. It has these presets for taking certain types of pictures but they don't seem to work very well. I just uploaded the pictures to the computer and they look grainy on the computer as well, but look great on that small LED....

Should look much better on my 23" LED you'd think... although the picture is much larger... it is a 12 megapixel camera

Suppose I have some more reading to do!

so another odd thing, the Olympus takes HD video which I thought was a really cool feature. Until I figured out that it will only take up to like a 2mb video which is about 1 min 20 sec's then it will automatically stop. It states in the manual that the camera get's hot when shooting video for a long period of time. It also says if you plan on shooting a movie with it (which i'm assuming is a longer recording time)  then use a SD Speed 6 card. Anyone know anything about a SD speed 6 card?  i'm actually getting ready to do some research but i'm wondering how this allows the camera to record for a longer period of time if heat is an issue w/ the camera.

I would hope that you can record for longer periods of time because that's the main reason I got the 16gb SD card for it, also in the commercial it states that the entire commercial is recorded with the camera itself. I would hope they didn't make a 5-10 minute commercial in 1 minute and 20 second increments.... almost like false advertising.

EDIT:  1 minutes of searching, lol...

http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/speed_class/

Sounds like a SD Speed 10 is the best for full HD video. They're about double the price of a normal SD card!

If you watch most movies or tv you will notice that each cut is between 5-30 seconds normally.
There should be an overide for that though.

it is when the white is so bright that it blows out the pixels to the point where you lose detail and usually has a pink tinge to it.

Best discussion board that I know of for serious photography.

(that said, such a shot begs for bracketing and blending to increase the dynamic range to approximate good film)

Very cool.  I could see how that may take a few "takes" to nail it.

Very nice Kyle.  It took me a long time to realize there was a train in the picture.  :hammer:  It almost looks like a painting.

Did you layer it like you do, or is it one shot?
