Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

If you get a waggoneer front you will not be able to match gears front to back if you want to put lower gears in them.  IMO the best option for a sas on a taco is to buy the custom built driver side drop axle housing from sky off-road.  Its made to fit toyota knuckles and everything so will basically be building a toy axle for your toy!  throw some longs in, and lower gears that will match the rear and you are ready to rock!

4.88s, 4.10s....5.29/5,38 is not far enough off to matter.

doing it on a budget just find a waggy front with 4.11/4.10 gears and it will work for the time being with the rear stock axle.

yeah i suppose 4:88's would work.  I was just thinkin about 5:29's cuz thats the most common gear for toyotas.  We did a SAS on my buddies 95 taco using a waggy front axle.  We put 5:29's in the rear and 5:38's in the front.  In 4 wheel drive in vibrates like hell if you drive over 15 mph because the gears dont match.  Yeah the gears work fine for crawling, but in 4 HI it has issues.

4.88s with a 3.4 is enough. I had that with 39.5 iroks and i was able to burn off 2nd gear, no joke, i got wittnesses on here to also agree.

Really, its dumb in my opinion to put an axle that is 5 inches narrower then what  comes stock on the tacoma.. (tacoma 60 mini truck front is 55.5), thats dumb. Yah u can run spacers but why? more scrub radius, shittier steering...not worth it. Get a waggy axle that is same width with close enough gears if you really need that deep, but really, you dont need deeper then a 4.88 on a motor like that....besides, theyre weaker.

yeah 4:88's are fine with a 3.4, they have plenty of power.  I know a mini truck axle is more narrow, thats why i mentioned using the axle housing from sky. They can be built to match tacoma width for no extra cost, also longfield makes longer axles to fit the housing for the same price as the regular longs. Plus its very expensive to do a high steer setup on a dana 44. If you use the custom built housing, you can run regular toyota high steer as long as you lengthen the tie rod and drag link of course.  That is a very nice option to have!  I'm just making sure thegoofster knows his options.  I have no idea how much his budget is, just letting him have the info.

my buddy was tellin me that he would have to buy new flat top knuckles, then steering arms to fit them, then all the tie rod ends and tubing for steering links. He told me he was lookin at like a grand for everything!  maybe there is a cheaper way

Crap; just from reading this last page I'd like to offer HP 44/D 60 but they've been sold already; from a 79 F250 at the local yard. Now if I want to do full-widths should I look for Waggy front axles or stick with Ford/Dana axles? Just a question; I can't fund the big swap right now.
