did toyota change throwout bering design?

in the middle of changing out my 22re for a rebuilt unit,  went to southland clutch here in san diego and the guys gave me a throwout bearing that looks different than the one that was in the truck.  it looks better designed, it fits perfectly but it is definitely differant.
the new one has a retaining spring and the rotating part that rides on the fingers is the same diameter, take a look, the old one is on the right.

also here are some before and after of the belhousing, i am pretty sure this is all motor oil.
