started another pretty big remodel yesterday, so ill at least have a good month of steady flowing cash to start buying more goodies. my goal is to completely finish the tons and maybe start on buying some suspension stuff.

yota_krawler

cool glad to hear your working!

that job i told you was a bust. oh well guess i will keep looking.
I tore the head of the other day... ouch. its pretty bad. The timing chain guides were shot and there is grooves in the front cover of the motor.

-Matt-

so your still unemployed? well atleast its only the front cover. as long as its not cracked or doesn't have a hole in it, id run it. i thought that engine was already running?

yota_krawler

nope, i think i told you about the head needing to be rebuilt. I got another cover and guides so its not all bad. The grooves are like a 1/16th deep. I think it wore through were the water pump is, thats where it all started i think.

No i am working, 8.75!!!! lol

-Matt-

flopp man that's a bummer, at least your working though. y not just find another decent engine instead of getting it rebuilt?

yota_krawler

cause the bottom end is still good, the valves were burnt but it didnt run long after it had happened. The head is only going to cost 150 and he is hookin it up with OE gaskets and :pokinit:. I am going to get it running, slap duals in, and run it till i can save for a legit notor swap.

quick update, i have been buying lots of stuff lately, i decided to go a different route with my steering box so i got an fj 80 forward swing in good condition, cleaned it and tapped it, its ready for hydro assist. bought new pinion bearings and seals for the 14 bolt, new calipers/rotors/brake pads for the 60, bought a 14 bolt arb and compressor, 35 spline warn premium hubs, 10 factory 35 spline chromoly stub shafts, longfield supper joints, and a 60 to toyota flange. finished up the gears in the 60...ended up perfect.

im about to buy the ballistic 60 steering arms with the 7/8s steering hyme and tubing kit. also a 60 diff cover and then im done with everything on the axles besides brake lines which will come when its being built

pictures will come when everything gets here and its all done, probably 2 weeks.

Dingman.

Right on Matt..

This will be bad ass im sure!

well i got my new shafts and joints put together, so its ready for the front end. arb is half way together. just ordered the last things to finish off my axles  :burnout: ...60 diff cover, ballistic steering arms, their 7/8's steering kit with misalignment spacers, and a fill plug for my 14 bolt cover. (even though its not necessary i don't want to deal with the stock one) i also finished up building the truss for the 14 bolt. pretty simple, just some 2.5" square tube and some flat bar. depending on when i get my stuff in the mail the axles should be done in a week.

nice man. looks so sick.

thanks man, im getting so ancy now. getting these axles done is such a big thing out of the way. it should start going faster now because building these was nothing but a money pit. but its gonna be worth it in the long run.

<MIKE>

ya i hear ya. i look forward to the build. keep up the good work.

im workin monday, but thanks for the offer. you get your new rod bearings in yet? your truck looks good, im usually not a fan of diamond plate but what you did with i turned out looking really nice, it flows well.

kiyul4130

are you 4 linking the rear? im confused about the truss? thought it was a 3 link?

KYOTA FOREVER

-Matt-

im 3 linking it with a panhard, i built the trust so that my axle tubes wouldnt spin (specially since the panhard will be pushing on one side so much) i have searched a lot and found that there are quit a few cases of the 14 bolts doing that. but if i were running springs i wouldn't have made one cuz its not an issue. i also plan on tying in the panhard and upper link mount to the truss.

waiting on the rest of my steering stuff from balistic to finish up the axles... its already been almost 2 weeks but ive heard this is how balistic is so o well.. not like i realistically need it right away.

i just ordered the rest of the odds and eds stuff. psc steering ram, high output pump and pully for the 3.4, tg flat pitman arm and steering fluid reservoir, steering fluid cooler, york mounting kit, and oil pan conversion kit.

now its on to suspension.

yota_krawler

anything new clown?

ehh, my axles will be done once i get the rest of my stuff from ballistic. i ordered everything on the 2nd...they said they are waiting to machine new steering arms. i got a psc steering pump and ram, reservoir, pitman arm, steering cooler, oil pan conversion kit, 1 one full brake kit, and a york kit for the 3.4.

i literally just finished taking my 3in body lift out and replacing it with a 1in, i wanted a 1in body lift for my suspension setup and all that. i only was able to finish the cab section because i ran into some issues, so im gonna do the bed this weekend. i also took the nurf bars off and raised my radiator up 2.5 inches so that its flush with the bottom of my frame. i don't want to have a big ugly radiator guard like most people do. it already looks so much better being 2 inches lower. its pretty much at the height i want it to be once its built.

-Matt-

finally got the rest of my stuff from ballistic friday so i was able to finish up the axles. im pretty happy with how everything turned out. only problem i has was the warn premium hubs had to be modified to fit ( some grinder action). i don't understand why but it worked out. also the internal hub gear is pretty small since i have 35 spline outers.. i don't hear about them being an issue or breaking but we will see.

heres the specs..

Dana 60 passenger drop
-longfield 300m u joints
-10 Factory 35 spline chromo outers.
-warn 35 spline premium hubs
-ballistic steering arms
-ballistic 7/8 steering kit with .250 dom tube
-ballistic diff cover
-nitro 5.38 gears
-spool
-high angle dana 60 to toyota flange
-all new brake components seals and some new bearings.

Corporate 14 bolt
-nitro 5.38 gears
-ARB
-disk brake conversion with all new brake parts and seals
-custom truss for 3 link setup and so i don't twist an axle tube
-1410 yoke
