just ordered 5.38s for the 14b and 60 with both mini install kits and some inner axle seals.

heres the movable axle stand i put together. i had to have some way of moving them across grass and small curbs so i put some beefy tires on it. cost 160$ in parts which kinda sucks cuz its not really going to anything but i didn't have a choice cuz i don't have my own garage to just leave stuff in.

THK Matt

wow that axle is mad sexy!!! nice cart too. do whatcha gotta do.

got my gears for front and rear and spool for the front. im gonna go set up the front 60 right now. i stripped it all down and cleaned it up yesterday. need to wait for more money to buy the arb for the rear then ill set up those gears. i haven't worked for 3 weeks so money has been low right now, or else these axles would have been done by now

THK Matt

reasoning for a selectable in the rear and not vice versa?

because its not gonna be a trailered rig. im gonna be driving it on the road all the time.

Nice truck.  My suggestion would be to get black, non-shiny rims as the tires will look more in-line with the vehicle that way.  I'd keep it pretty much as-is, though, for height.

it gonna be getting completely different wheels and tires. i HATE the tires about the only good thing about them is they last a lot time. the rims are nice, but not my style..it was like that when i bought it. and as far as height i would like it a little bit lower. the frame might be a half in lower, and im gonna take 1.5 inch out of the 3 inch body lift.

its pretty slow right now but i think its gonna start to pick up again in a week or so. axles are still a little bit more than half way done, not to much more work involved, its more of buying stuff to put them back together. i got a york compressor and got it all ready and cleaned up. also picked up my scout II forward swing, its completely apart right now so i can tap it for hyro assist... gonna finish that up this weekend. my plan is to basically stock pile ready-to-go parts till i have the axles completed, suspension and drive train ready to go. its coming a long though.

THK Matt

Right on Matt, can't wait to see what it turns out to be like.
Gonna be pretty sick for sure dude.

well since its been going really slow might as well post up a few pictures of the little progress im making. got the forwards swing scout box tapped for hydro assist. and york compressor all cleaned up.

THK Matt

oooo sexy parts you got ;]

and reasoning for the forward swing scout? and lets say not a LC forward swing?

i think your use for forward swing is due to the amount you plan on pushing the front axle forward ya?

well first off i was gonna get a forward swing either way. i dont want to have to deal with my steering binging up... its gonna be pretty far forward and i want to be able to do adjustments without having to deal with binding issues. my last truck was nothing but a pain in the ass as far as my steering binding up.

the reason on this box is its really beefy so it will be great for what im gonna run, and i came across a good deal. the only downside is its slightly larger than some of the other forward swings,..but it shouldn't affect anything as far as room and placement of it.

the only thing im still not confident on is how i adjusted it when i had to put everything back together. i have instructions and everything for all the preload..etc but its still hard. there 2 different adjustments. similar to a ring and pinion. and its a complete pain in the ass to get everything in tolerance without binding. i think i have it dialed but when time comes i may just take it to a shop that knows how to adjust them, cuz i don't wanna blow it up or damage it.

if i were to do it again i would have taken lots of measurement and made markings on where to adjust everything before i took it apart so i could basically just put it back to where it was...but i wasn't fully thinking and just started tearing everything apart.

THK Matt

:beerchug: I thought a "good deal" was playing a roll in there somewhere.... but I wasn't sure on the strength side. good to know though and I think the forward swing will be very nice when it comes to eliminating "bindage"

You are for sure thinking this one out Matt.

thanks matt, ya im just taking my time. not half-assin anything. i wouldn't have gotten this stuff right now, but since my buddy had the box laying around for a project that hit the drain that didn't want much for it and a free york i took advantage. that's one thing im liking about this future build is that im collecting parts before i build it, that way i can take my time and when deals come around i can take advantage. my last truck was the opposite as far as when i needed something i needed it right away so i wasn't able to get hooked up.

i want to build this truck and wheel so bad, its nice cuz i know when the time comes its going to be awesome but i do miss having a truck and i get jealous cuz all my buddies are doing major changes on their trucks. works just soo slow right now its ridiculous. i get paid well so when i do work its nice, but right now im just kinda hanging in and only have enough money to do daily things..not enought right now to be buying expensive parts. but eveything will work out sooner or later.

THK Matt

Yeah thats what I have chosen to do on my 4Runner.
although i am getting rid of the 3.slow, r150F and the toy axles and using the money to fund my new DD project.

but once that is done this spring then its on to collecting parts for the 4runner and transforming it on some 1tons, v8, HD 4speed or auto and duals. and most likely a chopped top with a 1st gen 4runner roll bar for looks. its expensive to do... but i will take my time like you are and find deals when i can.

so props to you and i am for sure watching and see how you do things.

and no problem man, you do good work!

me, chris, jud, and a few of our other buddies went snow wheelin today. we went up to the high lakes area but went other routs than most everyone else so we could blaze trail and see other scenery. was an awesome time. i cant believe how well this practically stock Tacoma does, i feel confident in saying not only did it amaze me but everyone else to. i thought that once i got rid of my runner id be the dude getting stuck all the time or having to fallow everyone or stay on the main road.. but was i wrong. although i cant crawl the snow like i was able to in my last truck this truck compares decently close as far as its capability. the snow was pretty wet so the lower elevation wasn't so great but once we got higher up it was perfect and there was a good 3 feet of new snow, but none of is was any really light powder.

got a few pictures and a little bit of video.

lower altitude snow,, id say about a foot and a half.

higher altitude snow, around 3 feet. pretty decent wheeling/packing snow. but it wasn't fluffy. once you got stuck you were done. couldn't dig out easily..basically had to get a tug each time.

and heres where we had to turn around. over 3 feet of pretty solid snow. i was mashin hard and blazing pretty steady, worked i and went through some deep ass drifts but then came to this spot.. easily a football field length of pretty much solid snow drifts. it was starting to get late so we headed back
