Hey there I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a college student just gettin by. I live am from Georgia and currently live their half the year, and the other half I live in Idaho, going to school. I dont have a rig yet but, I am excited to get started on one. I guess my interest in one stems for going offroading in a 884runner that was SAS and dual cased. I was amazed at what they could do. My first time out in the rig was the last. We flipped it 5 times on the highway coming home out in the desert. We were very lucky, people were ejected when the shell broke off, ect. We all suffered relatively minor injures(broken arms, ribs, ect.) So now its one of those, get back up and get back offroad in a crawler type things.

Right now I am torn between building a 3rd gen pickup and a 2nd gen runner. I have been lurking for a little while and know basically what I want to do. Being in college it is going to be slow going. I want to stick IFS for a while and wheel the piss out of it while I gather money and parts. Then do an SAS and duals plus armor, and add from there. Lookin to run 35's cause it is going to be my DD as well. I cant see my project starting for another 2 years or so because I am leaving to serve a mission for my church for two years. Thats right I am LDS.

Howdy from North Ga. Whereabouts are you from in Georgia?

An option that I'm seeing quite a bit of is buying some pretty well set up rigs on Craigslist in GA. I'm figuring it's guys giving up on tellico, so they're selling the trucks. I recently saw an 81-83 (forget which year) that had 35" TSL's, locked front and rear with 5.29 gears and in good shape for $3500.

Good luck in your search and on the mission trip.

When in doubt throttle out!

Yeah I have noticed that too. Its tempting and some of them are an awesome steal but I am actually really looking forward to building my rig. I am from Lilburn. I don't know if you know exactly where that is. Its like 20 mins east out of Atlanta. I have read up a little bit on whats happening up a Tellico. Thats too bad. Those really were some of the best trails around. I havnt really been in Atlanta over the past 6 months.

kletzenklueffer

Yep, I know where Lilburn is. I'm in Cleveland, and grew up in Gainesville, just a short drive from Lilburn

Thanks for the welcomes. THK90 if you know I am mormon and going to school here, then I probably dont need to tell you where I am, but I am in Rexburg. I have checked out one of the local clubs websites( Snake River) and it seems pretty legit.

Keletzenklueffer, yeah Gainsville is not far at all. We go wakeboarding all the time up on Lanier.

Lol thats true... there is a few of your missions (did i say that right) in our area as well.
Not too many clubs up here though, SO-HO definately has all the 4wheel clubs. I think Eastern WA may have some.

I know RCKSQRL, is in Boise Area and he is in a 4wheel club or two and he wheels with the more wild guys.

but yeah if you are ever up this way, give a holler.

Welcome to the site! It is very helpful.

Thanks man. I will def give you a holler if I ever make it up that far. I havnt ever been quite that far up but I have a friend that lives in Coeur d Alene. I know the Priest river area is way nice. From what I have heard the winters up there are quite a bit more manageable than down here. O and yeah you said the missionary thing close enough.

I am 45minutes North east of CDA and 25 minutes Southeast of Priest River. PR is very nice, Priest Lake is WAYYYYY pretty. The winter aren't more manageable in my opinion. the last 3 were terrible. but that said its really pretty up here. I wheel, camp, hunt and fish all over up here, north of CDA.

I live on Lake Pend Oreille, Largest natural lake in the Northwest

Happy with it so far. Lots more interesting wheeling. I am only here half to 3/4 of the year though. The winters out here much worse by far.
