Thanks man, I have yet to start the detail work. Lets just say the only thing i havent got figured out is power window switches and door pannels. I know the colors and all that just dont know what style im going to do. The bed build and stereo build will be where the detail work will show. I came from the vw world where details are everything and in the toyota world it looks like its not as big of a deal but i cant shake it.

some detail examples....this is the tranny out of my old corrado

Honestly its kind of a curse cause im like that with everything i do. I got in to body building about a year ago and im always picking my body apart and trying to build more here and then more in this area...it sucks but is good for the cars.

I worked out of a small 2 car garage for most of my life. I got the shop about 2 years ago and its been a headache...when you have more space you have more projects.

Im a neat freak so even renting i dont think they would care. My shop has an unsealed floor so its like a big sponge and i still dont have a huge mess. I let a few guys wrench and those would be the stains i have or a few from the previous renter.

Floors are bank so i dont wanna mess it up. Mines smooth and level and cost a little over 80k when the shop was built. I was going to do some VCT over it but im not buying the place anymore so i will save that for my place.

The one im in now was my grandpas before he passed and now i rent it from the estate. Were selling the house and shop before july but the house im buying next year is on 2 acres so im thinking i will just build one or buy an old airplane hanger and do it up like this one.

I sanded for 5 hours today trying to get all the chassis saver out of the bay. I still have spots of the support and the firewall and near the new battery tray to clean up and i can paint it. What a PITA!!!!

We have a blaster in the shop i just hate the mess. Im even sending the bimmer out to be done.

Ok so it was a busy weekend in the shop.

My buddy Nate wanted to doa bed bob for a guy off cottora so i let them use the shop and lent a hand where i could.

Today i went up with Towlhead the owner of the now green 85 we are cab swapping and fixing. We got the cab on and hes going to be working on it to see if he can wheel it this weekend in the snow. The flat bed hes going to cut up. We were going to pitch it but its a pretty good base for a decent bed.

And now for my truck. I spent the day taking out all the filler i put in the shock areas to smooth them from stretching them to fit the 14inch hoops. I got 99% of the chassis saver out and only have a small area to do when i go to the shop before work today. I refilled it all and redid the mud from the tacoma firewall section and the plugged heatercore line. I went a bit crazy and metalshaped the seam between the upper and lower firewall and threw a thin coat of glaze over it. I need to hit that again today. Anyways im back on track to be painting the bay and underside before the weekend and may have to jump in and do the patch pannels i had a guy set up for but seems to be flaking...

That bob job looks good, I just can't believe someone would make a really short bed even shorter....

I thought about it but im thinking ahead. I plan on adding on board air and other goodies and dont want to be drilling in to the truck. It will be easier to make brackets then drill nice paint for me :)

you think thats short. My buddy nate had a regular 6 foot bed and we took 11 inches off and then he xtra cab swapped. Now its wider then it is long.

I would stretch the wheelbase in the rear and cut the bed to accommodate the stretch, then it would look a little more proportionate. Looks good though, makes you look twice at it.

The door looks like its the wrong color.

It may have been repainted at somepoint we dont know. Its also a pearl color so it could have more or less then the rest. All the other pics look good and in person you cant see it so IDK whats with that pic.

OK HERE WE GO!!!!

As promised paint before the weekend.

The paint turned out pretty well. I have to say as ocd as i am im pleased with it for now. I saw a few spots i didnt like so much but at this point i will be ok with over looking 2 small flaws nobody will notice because they get covered in order to get seat time.

It wouldnt be me if i didnt try putting it together before its fully dry but i had to.
Clips for splash gaurds, headlights and the hood prop were installed and you can see them in a few pics. I didnt F it up tho!!

some new parts. I know they are small details but the small one fits the front bumper and the big one is for the rear

for the next project.....I had a guy lined up for it but he flaked so im going to butcher this part myself.

Rust in the taped area. Its was surface but i got 2 tiny holes when i hit it with the wire wheel so its getting that much cut out.

Inside.

The other rust spot.

I had caught it before i scrapped the old bed and cut out that section but i had a roll bar at one point so i have some holes to weld up.

Bobbed and ready to get the body work done after i fix the 2 small spots. Doors and cab should be ready to be blocked after the weekend and maybe my fenders will come tomorrow.

Enjoy the pics guys..Im high and buried the maxima in a 4 foot snow drift in the driveway of the shop today so im a bit tired and pretty high from painting and spacing out to wear the mask that was hanging around my neck...DOH!

Its Toyota Super white from the new tacoma/tundra/highlander

Mk3 gti? Vr6 is good, the 2.0 sucks pretty bad but a vr is a fun car. I miss how they sound....thats why im building this...Shhhh

Total sleeper car. The last motor was 650whp and the new one will be close to 400 but will be much more drivable in town.

no no...
The Toyota Supra MKIII
I scored an 87 with a 7MGE and W58 for $400
the car has 140k on it and the HG blew
the head was takin by the shop cause he charged twice what he quoted my buddy... so its cylinder headless.
Im dropping in a JDM Engine and doing some upgrades and fixing it up.
Its primed grey and needs a front nose clip and a front seat.

I was curious to see if you knew anything about them.

Here is a pic of what I hope to have it looking like next spring.
its in fair shape now... but i like making driveable show cars.. so it will be my winter project.

It's been one of my favorite Supra's for a long time.

AH Toyota Super White... I like :D

Oh my bad. I dont know much about them but i know a guy whos always screwing with em. I just cant get in to the body style. Id go for a newer one with the 2jz in it and single turbo it. 7m should be a good motor and could put down some good hp with the right parts.

I will ask my around and see what i can dig up

dont feel bad russ,
I have ocd also I have learned nothing will be perfect.
but still when its not perfect im mentally bothered to the point I redo it over and over.
if one of my welds arent perfect I will think about it all night.
Im a professional painter and when theres a lil orange peel or a run even if it will be covered
Im bothered for days.
Dude it FN sucks
I do construction for a living and believe everything is code and perfect.
I noticed when I was 10 and my room was spottles, but wasent good enough.

anyway your build looks awesome
keep up the clean work.

I'm not a fan of the MKIV Model myself.
although a 2JZ-GTE would be a sick swap, agreed.
