Yeah, good luck with that.....If you think fixing the 3.0 is pricey.....

Moneywise the cheapest swap to get more power is the 4.3. 22re will give you problems with emissions, (that's where I'm at) 2.7 doesn't give you much more than 22re or 3.0, 3.4 is bucks.

Cheapest/easiest is find a pullout motor and get the truck going, sell it before it starts nickle and diming you.....Either that or look for a rollover and buy a runner/driver to swap in newer stuff.....

If you need to get the truck going, stick with what's easiest/cheapest. If you wanna do a longterm build, then don't compromise, figure out what you want and roll with it.  :twocents:

ultra flat Olive Drab (military green) its krylon rattle can paint, only the best of the best for my trucks

it probably looks grey cause its way over cast here and might rain, and of course i started to paint on a day its supposed to rain. i hate Murphy's Law

im getting a replacement 3.0 motor for my truck, so looks like im back on track. and time to start looking for lockers and gears. does anyone know if they have fixed the smoothness problem with the Detroit Locker? my friend had one and it was really rough when it engaged and disengaged. i guess its between Lokrite, Aussie, and Detroit (if they fixed that problem)  ???

from everything i have read (no personal experience) why not just get the aussie? its  cheaper(est) and seems to work as well as any other locker besides a spool or selectable

My stand has a motor on it already. But if you still need a hoist, you're welcome to borrow mine. I need to put some oil in the ram because it bleeds down, but it works fine. You'll have to come pick it up though, I don't currently own anything with an open bed.....

Dude, I just talked to your buddy who's hookin' you up with machine work! (horrible with names, already forgot his) Thought I'd forward you this link, it'd be cheaper than you building that POS motor you've got.....

And I meant what I told him, you fix your own junk, you ain't gonna buy mine!

anyone mix the IFS stock rear leaves with the '79-'85 to make a pack that provides lift w/o having to move the hangers and such? or has anyone mixed others to create a lift spring? if so what did you use? new super lift springs are around $300.
