84t0y's build thread posted some new pics.
« on: Jul 10, 2009, 01:54:51 PM »
Hi ive been a forum junkie for a couple years now and ive finally got my ass in gear and started some real work on my truck. so here it is in all its humbleness, ill post some pics from when i got it to how it is today.

here it is when i bought it

new rust free bed and some new 31s on new black steel wheels

here it is with a bobbed bed and some 33s

mad stock flex

and here is what it looks like now.

and now im starting to work on cleaning up the axle and frame

and thats where im at now, it will be lifted with RUF and f150s in the rear and will be on 37 mtrs
stock gears for now but hopefully dual cases soon after im done with the lift, i will be installing a new marlin clutch soon too because i dont think the stock one will handle those 37s.

will update as progress happens.

little update, sorry no pics, cant find the usb cord for the camera.
got the front axle all cleaned up and the rear end is done except for shocks which i still need to buy. i still need to set up my front leaf packs, been working lots lately and its super hot so i only get to work on it in the morning and night.

oh and i did a full tune up which it needed really badly.
more to come later and i will try to get pics soon.

got my front packs done and i think i did a good job for my first time, i mixed two sets of 48" rears and another leaf that i had. so i have 7 leaf packs, i know most ppl seem to do a 6 leaf pack but i live on a gravel road which really beats on the suspension and i dont want it really soft. but if it turns out that its too stiff then all i have to do it take one out. still need to paint my axle and roll it under the truck then i can drill holes for my steering box, sucks because i have to buy a bigger drill because the one i have wont fit the 3/4 drill bit i bought.
i should have this thing done by the end of next week, if i dont then im a slacker. damn this takes alot longer when theres nobody helping out.

ok update, it should have been very close to done today but i ran into a problem, i think im going to need to do something with my rear driveshaft. but i dont really know why because ive done this lift before and it went fine with no problems. i went for a short test drive and it had horrible vibrations. heres some pics to show what im talking about, and a pic of the finished stance.

also my carrier bearing is shot, so my question is. is this common? and should i stilck with the two piece shaft or should i try and change to a 1 piece? i do plan on dual cases down the road.

Get rid of that 2 peice, you need a cv joint on the tcase side, and put the slip on the 3rd member side :twocents:

hey thanks for all the comments, im pretty happy with it. just today i got new procomp 9000s put on, they arnt the best but they are good cost wise. and the ride is so much better with shocks haha.

for now the diffs are stock gears, the rear does have an aussie locker though someday when money allows i will regear.

yes no front driveline atm, i need to make a cheap square one for the time being.
