ok this time i'm going to try and keep you guys informed on this and for my buddie Nate

Info:
-92 Toyota pickup
-SR5
-22RE
-W56-C 5speed
-gear drive tranfercase
-V6 third members front and rear
-possably 4.88 gears not sure yet need to decode


so its my buddies truck but im going over it trying to get the engine fixed after a fresh rebuild ive narrowed it down to cracked timming cover or head gasket. i'll give you an update when i tear into it.

ive got an extra timing cover that has some grooves in it that are fairly deep, but didnt eat through the cover....

i can get a brand new one for about $40 id rather be safe then sorry you know i had the same issue with mine that was the same but once it heated up it opened up the crack and let the anti-freeze poor in

ive got a box full of good ones, $10 and they are oem toyota ones, not some cheap crap, what kinda quality are u really getting for $40?  made in china?

oh, and u dont need to decode anyhting, pull the rear drive shaft off the 3rd and look at what color it is, and all of the front ifs 3rds are 7.5" 4 cyl and v6.
ive seen that truck around town before and it is beat to crap, he doesnt take care of his truck like u do huh?

well its seen better days thats for sure. my buddie bought it about 7 months ago with a blown engine. he had an idiot at bananas fun park work on the engine and needless to say he didnt do that good of a job. So im going through the engine and most likely rebuilding it for him. i'll go over the entire truck and clean it up and get it lookin good.

why do you think its got a crack??  i never read anything that indicated you had a coolant issue :headscratch:

sorry i havent posted up all the issues.

the previous owner had overheated the engine doing something to it. he had somone build it they started it ran it for a little while found that antifreeze was going into the oil so im not exactly sure whats wrong. the guy that did the engine said he surfaced the head but im not sure. i have narrowed it down to the head gasket or head in genral or the timming cover if i get a chance ill start on it tomorrow

yeah the engine is going down bare well almost pistons are staying in im going to look over it all and replace whats needed i might need a block for cheap  :disturbed: uhh glen, do you know if an 84 22r head will fit on a 92 22re block? if the head is cracked that is.

well it will bolt up  but you would have like 6:1 compression :ack:


i doubt its the head,  90% sure its the gasket of head mounting surface screwed up

ok ill look it over this weekend i hope its something easy like that it over heated and started leaking then it got "ReBuilt" so im guessing the head needs surfaced on it and all the oil ports cleaned and bearings and gaskets and get this beats rollin
