I thought I would post a few photographs to keep you guys (and gals) updated with the Tonka. I recently grenaded a birfield, but I am currently repairing that. I wonder what could have made that birfield explode like it did? lol. Have a good one!

I was thinking about trimming the fenders, but I don't know how it would look. Should I trim it right below the headlight? I see quite a few fenders trimmed there, but I am not sure how it would look on my truck. I am a photographer, so that's where some of the posing comes from.

leave about a .25"-.5" left under the headlight. then you can decide if you want it flush or not. i just think 1st gens look goofy with the front fascia under there, even stock and 2wd's. it doesnt work for me is all

BigMike

But possibly if the stock bumper is used then it fits?

I will see what I can come up with. What should I use to get a clean , straight cut? If I can't do it, how much (approximately) would a body shop charge to trim me up about .25" below the headlight?

I'd use either a air body saw or a 4.5" angle grinder with a cut-off wheel. With the saw, throw some masking tape over the whole lower portion of fender, then with a pencil, draw where you want to cut. The air saw is very controlled and the masking tape will keep from marring the paint. With the angle grinder (what I used when I still had sheet metal) the diameter of the wheel helps to make nice clean straight lines but it can wrinkle the paint from heat if you are not careful.
