IFS Hub to Solid Axle Hub Conversion
« on: Apr 07, 2009, 06:39:12 PM »
I recently upgraded my Solid Axle Hubs with Longfield Hub Gears.  Are the hub gears that Bobby sells the same for IFS or different?  I'm interested to know if the old hub gears from the solid axle hub can be used to covert IFS hubs or if the gears have more differences than 27 vs. 30 splines.

 :dunno:

I have the old hub gears and kept them mostly because I thought someone might be able to use them to convert a set of IFS hubs are seem to be more available than the solid axle variety.

they will work in ifs hubs, the only difference is the spline count in the 79-85 to 86-95 hubs
ifs are 27 and sfa are 30 i think

Heights are different.  putting SA hub gear into IFS hub body won't allow that outter c-clip to fit.  (This is from web reading..)  (or the heights of the hub bodies are different..)

Bobby's IFS hub gear are different than the SA hub gear.  (stated on his site.)

Closest I could find.

Only thing I know is that I got IFS-to-SFA conversion gears from Bobby Long to use in my IFS hub bodies.

Then what's the answer, Birfailed? You haven't contributed anything  :smack:

If they're the same, then why would Bobby make an IFS conversion hub gear? That makes no sense...

This shows that IFS hubs and SFA hubs are different.

So an ifs hub would match up to an 79-85 axle?  Use the ifs brakes and rutor and offset the calapirs and you gain 2.5" in width. Correct?

no, you need fj rotors. thats not what this threads about anyways. this is about the lockout hub dial.

I have an IFS lockout with SFA parts in it and I CANNOT get the outer c-clip on the axle this is from first hand experience not web reading.  Again why would bobby make a conversion if they were the same?
