Going from stock fronts to rears up front, your axle will move forward (2", I believe). This means that you will have to shorten the drag link or move the steering box forward to match.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

My 4runner has rears up front and stock steering until I can find a ifs box. It wont work with the spring pin in the center hole, you have to use the front hole on the drivers side perch and drill out the pass side to match. Moves your axle about 1 1/8 forward on the front notch. Either turn the pittman arm a notch or deal with your steering wheel being upside down.

If you are trying to upgrade the front suspension and keep the truck driveable, yes, it would be worth doing. To swap to hi-steer, you would need the steering box, pump and lines, as well as the hi-steer kit. The above mods will allow the stock steering to operate properly until you get the parts to replace the steering.

this is very simple really,  it can work BUT you have to shorten the drag link as much as the rears move the axle forward,  its that simple

then remove the torque rod and install an old shock in its place

instant flexy

yeah im just wanting to upgrade from stock untill i can get some money for histeer. how much would you have to shorten the drag link?  :dunno: would it be sqirlly? because i had a truck before with the axle moved forward with downey springs and i could only go like 35mph down the wighway.? and the drag link way was shorter than stock.

I would wait till you get your highsteer. This way you can set every thing up at the same time and make sure it all works together. Highsteer clearance is usually the limiting factor on up travel so it is nice to have it installed when you set up your suspension.

The only thing I know about push pull steering is how to remove it so I can't offer a lot of advice there. When people are talking about shortening the drag link I'm assuming they mean cutting and re-welding it. If you are going to do this I would recommend having it welded by a professional. If you do it yourself sleeve it. I have a nice miller welder and consider myself pretty skilled but I would not be confident welding steering components.   :nerv:

I did it with a adjustable drag link and a flipped j arm ball. So far no problems from those.

you do NOT put the entire un modified rear pack in the front like this pic

not sure what the guy was thinking but DONT DO IT,  it will provide NO lift at all and the diving boards up front just look STUPID

I run rears up front with stock steering. I just drilled new holes 2 inches forward of the stock holes on the spring perches to compensate for the off center center pin on the rear springs. They wheel great and ride great on the road. I run a dropped drag link. No breakage but i carry a spare j-arm just in case.
