For the shackles, start by drilling the new holes an inch shorter and start with that, you can always drill it shorter if needed.  As for the bumper mounting, I am sure you guys could come up with something with a little metal.  As for which are softer, no clue, but they all pretty much perform the same from what I have seen.

Wow, I'm glad you're okay.

Here's my two cents.

Put on a new body. Now you have an appreciation for how fast it can happen. New body and minimal exo. Learn to drive, and it'll be just as clean as it started.

You actually have about 9-10" of lift that I see
Front - drop hanger and spacer - ~4" plus 6" lift springs and ~2" lift shackles
Rear  - 2" drop hanger for shackle side, plus 2~3" block, plus 6" lift

Redo your rear shackle mounts. That's terrible shackle angle. You wanna be at about 35-40 degrees.
Lose the leaf spring spacer. Obvious.
Redo your front spring hanger. Ditch the spacer. Sucks that you'll have to redo the bumper, but that shouldn't be too bad. Beats redoing the body...
Lose the 6" springs. Go with a 4", or build your own pack.

Sucks that it happened, but glad you're okay.

I must say, NO ONE saw this coming...    :smack:

Quote from: Jordan7118 on March 30, 2010, 08:51:14 AM
That's for you to decide.

For me, yes, that's terribly too tall.

Quote from: NorCalToy on March 31, 2010, 09:37:56 AM
Its personal Opinion and since its your runner and you like it it doesnt really matter :dunno:

Im at ~23" on 35s and I feel too tall... :dunno: But if your comfortable wheeling a tall rig then dont worry about it.

Quote from: 4LoRunner on March 31, 2010, 02:46:13 PM
thanks man! i do feel comfortable wheelin in cuz like i said my uncles is almost the same and ive never flopped

4LoRunner

alright i get it. and thanks for your help

those are my plans for the truck which i hope doesnt take long.

u cud of been a little less harsh on me. remember im no an expert. i understand what i have done wrong with my truck. ive regretted the 6" lift ever since the first day i wheeled it. i was about 15when i pick out the lift and hey when ur a kid u think the bigger the better and more baddass it would look hahah but nope not in this case.

but a kick in the ass is what gives me motivation to get er done and back on the rocks

if you leave the rolled body on til after MCR then you dont have to worry about trashing the new clean one. and you can still lower it down with the beat up body so you dont have to roll it agian.

why waste the money on new springs thoug? why coultnd you just pull a lef or two out of the 6" pack to lower it down some. Mix in some stock springs or something... :dunno:

do some searching around and reading. I cant say exaclty what leaf to pull but maybe pull the 2nd and 3rd from the top and throw in a flatter leaf if you have one. or just pull 2nd from top and put packs back together.

I have removed 2 leafs from my rear 4" USA :turtle: springs which dropped it about an inch.. But I have never removed leafs from the front packs.

Start with the bottom (shortest) leaf and work your way up. It would be best to experiment which would take more time, but would provide the best results.

For example, remove the two lower leafs and see how that looks, rides, and flexes. Then put them back on and remove only the 3rd leaf up from the bottom. Then see how that looks, rides, and flexes. You can try all sorts of combinations, but if you can, I would recommend trying to remove the shortest leafs as possible.
