it has a CV joint (constant velosity) on it now. still confused on double cardan but whatever it is, i just want wheel it.   pretty over working on it...

Figured out my crawl ratio Is 109:1 now, stock is 48:1. I was suprised to find that the R150f tranny has 3.83 first gear. I didn't think it would be that low.

This is a double cardan joint.  The reason I ask is because shen you are using a double cardan driveline, your pinion should be pointing directly at the output of the t-case so that your pinion and driveshaft make a perfect straight line.  Thats how your driveshaft should be setup. So by looking at your pics, I would say your pinion is still pointed up too high, probly by 5 degrees or so.

now you need to get the 4.7 gears in your second case, then you will really be amazed!  My crawl ratio with the r151f tranny and 4:88 gears is 238:1.  Its really nice for when I get into big technical stuff, I have so much more feel for the rig and trail, its great.

the pinion is pretty much straight at the output.

my last truck had 4.7 in the crawl box and it was nice but a lot of times I didnt need it that low. I have also had stock duals in rigs and they have done fine, even through the hammers. So I guess if I really want it lower I can add gears. I think this set-up will be fine.

Took it for a test drive and smooth as silk! Only vibrations are from the flat spots in the tires since it hasn't been driven in over a month...

I bought the new trail gear frame reinforcement plates last week, and welded them on today. I had the grind off the drivers side stock shock bolt that come thru the outside of the frame. but it also covered the hole on passenger sid ein the same spot.  They are nice pieces and less $ than other vendors. I also cut off the rear bumpstops, they weren;t long enough and I sisnt like how they looked. I might come up with something else but for now the fenders are still the stops. hoping to wheel in the next couple weeks.

He said he would try Fordyce Sunday if that is where you wanted to go, but I think he wants to get some sliders and bumpers done first,  also needs to come across a third that the can weld up.

Are you done for the season?

I bought the ram and lines together. They were from trail gear so whatever length they sell. I think I had the get a new high pressure line made to go from the pump to the box. I used the stock pump and enlarged the resivor and added a cooler. Oh and it's the 8" ram.

I might as well this bring this up to date.

Long story short, I finished the dual cases and drove less than 500 miles on it and it started making bearing noises. I took it apart and the bearing around the coupler in the adapter was going out and it was taking out the stuff around the coupler. everything was blued from excessive heat. I called Marlin and sent it to them to get it rebuilt and have the new bearing put in it. I sent it to them almost 5 weeks ago and I'm still waiting... Tracking # says its on the way, should be here tomorrrow. Im probably going treaker style Sat and get it together So I can make a run to the snow Sun. 8)

Hopefully it will be here tomorrow, So in the meantime I have been doing little things to stay busy. kinda.
:willynilly:

I hooked up a hand throttle. Moddified the twin sticks alittle, replaced the pinion seal that was leaking.  pretty much have been doing nonsense. instead of actually wheelin... again.

After getting my adapter back Friday from Marlin, I started putting the truck together Sat afternoon.  After the bearings started going out in the adapter the 1st time, Marlin Warrantied the adapter. They milled the adapter, put their newer bearing in and replaced the coupler, low speed gear and cage bearing.
after about 6 hours, I had it all together and took  for a test drive. Everything had gone together smooth. I drove a couple miles and got on the freeway, I didnt make it a mile on the freeway before the t-case locked up. Having the rear wheels completly locked up at 65 was pretty sweet!
Ended getting it towed home, cancelling the trip to the snow for sunday and let it sit in the driveway for a few days.

Thursday I finally tore it apart again...

The adapter was completely bound up. The low speed gear is pretty much welded to the coupler! I dont know it happened in less than 5 miles.

Im waiting for a shipping slip from Marlin so I can send it back to them again! :maddest:

I hope so too! It's pretty frustrating! They had the adapter for 5 weeks the first time and it blew up in less than 5 miles.

Thats seriously bull crap.... I cant believe they had it 5 weeks to mill it. You coulda probably milled it yourself with a tooth brush faster then they got it done.

Hey Mike, maybe you can wheel your :pokinit: before the new year... nah. probably not. You MIGHT get your adapter back from MC by the next turn of the century......
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

GET IT!!!
