hopefully i dont have any problems with mine! the clutch in that article is the turbo clutch, mine is the non turbo. the one i have is obviously not a stock pressure plate because its a bit larger than the stock one that was in there, plus it is shaped a bit different too. hopefully mine doesnt turn out to be a big pos!

Its ALWAYS worth spending the money on a good clutch.... I put the Marlin 1800# semi metallic in my 93 and it rocks in all areas. Great for DD'ing and hooks up awesome offroad my 85 runners gettin the same clutch but ceramic with a 35 lb. flywheel, should be reeeeealllll nice $Beer Chug\'n$

I'd say break yours in real nice and dont slip it. As long as you know how to drive clutch without slippin the out of it then it SHOULD last a descent amount of time!

i would have loved to buy a marlin clutch kit, but he obviously doesnt offer one for my application, haha. i will be easy on it and try to break it in good. minicrawlin is right though, you dont use your clutch much at all with a 238:1 crawl ratio!

hey man how much did you pick the runner up for when you got it? I have an offer to trade my dodge i got for 3grand for a 2nd gen 4runner, 7mgte stock duals 4.88s yada.. its basically a daily driver locked with duals bald 39.5s.. i just didnt know what a 7m swapped truck would go for.. at all lol

i picked mine up for 5800 with the sas, longfields, lock rite, cryoed 488,s e-locker, 4.7 gears. it had alot of good parts on it other than the swap, it was also a super clean rig too. so i would say go ahead and make the trade! deffinatley check out the swap carefully though, you dont want to end up with a damn rats nest of a harness like minicrawlin was sayin!

yeah I am going to have him drive it here and check it out he said he did the swap two years ago the thing thats killing me is it has retarded tires on it that i won't be able to sell and i dont want to drive on them but im gonna check it out for sure if the wires ghetto i deff won't get it i suck at wiring expecially trying to fix someone elses

haha mine had retarded tires on it too! and it was super tall, all monster truck status. but that can all be changed

i should have my new axles three weeks from today! I havnt been able to work on the runner lately cuz i have a car in the garage that im trying to get going for a daily driver. its giving me all sorts of problems, so its taking way longer than expected

well the new dd is going to be a 95 eagle talon tsi (awd turbo). its been sitting for about 6 months with a blown tranny, siezed up wheel bearings, turbo leaking oil, plus a bunch of other little things. i have fixed most of it. i got a used tranny put in and i cant get it to go into 3rd or 4th. im thinkin i will have to pull it back out and put syncros in it. it will be a really fun dd when its all good. it has an aftermarket 16g turbo and a stainless tubular manifold, and a racing clutch. it gets up and moves pretty good

yeah i didnt end up being able to press it out. i had to cut the wheel flange and wheel bearing off with the torch. then the threads on the end of the axle shaft were completely screwed, so i had to cut part of the end of the shaft off. then i had to build it all up with welds to get the shaft back to the proper length. Then we stuck it in the lathe at work and cut new threads in it for the axle nut! it was a huge pain, but it turned out good. unfortunately i think the rear wheel bearing on the other side is going bad too, but it looks like that side has been taken apart before, so it might not be so much hell.

well Mike Smith is bringing up my 80 series axles from greely on the 19th of feb for our annual club meeting. maybe you could hook up with him and give him the tires. I didnt even know my dad got some tires from you

wow, the old man is steppin up to 35's huh? haha well i will get ahold of Mike and find out for sure what the plan is for bringing my axles up to sd. how far do you live from greely?

A whole lot closer than I am to Rapid City! About an hour away, I can get them up there no problem if he'll haul them.

Alright guys, finally got some updates. I got rid of the car project, it was taking to much of my money..... so now i can focus on the runner again. I just finished the new x-memeber tonight. I started by bending a piece of 3/8" plate to fit the contour of the bottom of the case where the stock rubber bolts on. I drilled holes in it so it could bolt on, then i built the rest of the member out of some 1/4" wall by 1 1/2" square tube. i sliced it in a few spots so it could bend where needed. i had a pair of weld on shacle mounts with good bushings in them, so i used those as my bushing setup. I welded it all up and sanded it flush. then cut out some stiffener plates out of 1/8" today at work and welded them to the sides of the tube to give the seems even more strength. I think it should hold up pretty well. im thinking about building a skidplate seperate from this x-member to protect the cases. I also got a few more parts for the build! I got one pair of fox 2.0 air shocks from a buddy and i still have to order the other pair. I also picked up a plastic 12 gallon fuel cell off of CL last night. And my axles will be here in about two weeks! I'm getting really stoked to start the suspension build. I think i have enough money to buy my other pair of air shocks and all the DOM tube and rod ends to build everything. i will keep you guys posted..... here are some pics
