Cleaning up the 82
« on: Nov 17, 2008, 09:14:08 AM »
I'm in the process of cleaning up my 82 which had been sitting in a field for about five years. I got the interior cleaned up, and engine bay scrubbed out prietty well. Now I need to get the air passage that sits just in front of the windsheild cleaned out (the vent/grille area that sits just behind the hood, and just in front of the windsheild on the out side). The top doesn't un-bolt like the one from my second gen did, and there are a bunch of leafs and sticks in there from what I'm guessing are mice. How do you get in there to clean that stuff out? Thanks for your help.

take the fenders off and you will see the little "passages"  where you can hose it out, chances are they are clogged

Cool, thanks. I will give that a shot this evening when I get home.

OK, so I'm getting to the point of being able to drive this thing. The doors were kind of messed up, so I got some new doors for it. I'd like to paint the new doors the same blue as the truck, since this is going to be my work truck for a while and needs to look halfway decent. Kind of a newb question, but what have you guys found as far as rattle cans that match the first gen blue?

Thanks for the help.

Nothing I've found matches, how bout shooting them with a gun?  If not, any competent paint store can mix up factory colors and put it in rattle cans for you, but it usually runs $12-15 a can and won't set as well as paint sprayed from a gun.
