are u talking completely stripped down parts or what? if not... brake clean and other caustic chemicals can destroy seals/gaskets and the like.

A powerwasher always works great for getting the majority of the gunk off. The carwash people usually cringe when they see me coming :aaa:

A good coat of WD40 will prevent rust after u clean if u dont paint right away.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

I use castrols biodegradeable degreaser.   Works pretty good, without using really harsh chemicals!  It doesn't seem to hurt the seals any.

When I change ATF in any of my vehicles I save the old in a 5 gal bucket, I can soak items in it for long periods and they come out CLEAN, for quick clean brake cleaner and a brush.  I would caution against gas or diesel as a degraser.  These dorks in my truck yard degreased one of their Peterbilts with diesel the next day when they drove it it went up in flames.
