« on: Sep 14, 2008, 01:43:39 PM »
I've got a stock 85 runner.  how much more articulation (if any) will i gain by removing the sway bar....is it worth the trouble?  thanks in advance
86 4runner, I hope my junk makes it.....

i jsut took the swaybar off my 84 xacb, noticed no difference whatsoever

articulation is improved, it is well worth it and i would recommend it to anyone who cares about offroad performance

If your going to wheel it. I would remove the torque rod up front. I didn't do that and ripped a big hole on the frame where it once called home. I drove it that way for a few years. You will get use to the way it wants to dart to the side when braking. OR install it back before you head home.

If it's carb truck. a fuel pressure regulator helps with flooding (note: I am using a electric fuel pump). I set mine at 1psi on the trail and 2.5 when I use to drive it on the street.
And if you are ever in need of a new clutch. I say get Marlins 1200 HD one. that is what I am using and it works great. of course having dual cases helps not having to use the skinny pedal all the time.

If you are going to remove the torque rod put a shock in place of it. That will allow the front to travel but won't rip it off of the frame. It will also keep the axle from twisting when braking hard eliminating that hard pull to the side.
