What all do I need to do to remove the pitman arm from the steering.....not the box end but what the other side connects to.

Impact gun definantly need the pop of a good impact gun.

The puller running or being opperated with impact gun is a must.

it was my understanding he wants to get the draglink off the pitman,  if this is the case you need a tie rod fork and BFH

i have always liked the little pitman arm puller tools, they press it off and dont trash the boots on anything, they can also be used on tie rod ends, and balljoints

The fork will work my bad. If you were gonna get that arm off the steering box you would need the impact gun.

Some of yall need a lesson in reading comprehention, (spell?) and I need to learn to spell. :dunno: A hammer a wrench and pliers   Pliers to remove the cotter pin a wrench to remove the nut and a hammer to wack the pitman arm till the end pops off.

Why are you coming on here and telling people when you can't spell the word comprehension.

A pickle fork and hammer.  If you are going to hit the draglink end, leave the nut on because otherwise you will screw up the threads and you will have to buy a new one.  Also, you might heat it up with a torch.

I use a pitman arm puller, apply tension and lightly tap the puller on both sides, then apply more pressure, tap both sides, and it pops off pretty easily.

If you don't plan to reuse the pitman arm, just dissect it from the steering box.  When I did my SAS, my pitman arm would not budge no matter what.  Spent way too long trying to gracefully remove it, using every method known to man.  Decided to use my grinder with a cutoff blade instead.  I cut an X on it and hit it with a BFH.  Took about a minute of my time and it popped right off.  Just be sure you don't cut too deep and damage the splines on the steering shaft.

Oops...  Just read the original post.   :hammerhead:

Use a pickle fork and an air hammer, just as the other gents stated...
