85 Axle overhaul
« on: Aug 21, 2008, 07:38:06 PM »
i have just gotten into the break down and rebuild of my '85 axle and was wondering if i should replace the knuckle studs, bolts and cone washers.
also, do the 54mm nuts, tag washer and star washer come in the knuckle service kit available on this site?
thanks

the tag washers come with the kit, but not the nuts if I remember correctly. I only replaced stuff that got messed up such as a few of my hub cone washers.

if you arnt running 37's and hydro assist  and your studs arent damaged i see no need to replace them

then 54mm nuts do NOT  come in the kit  but i believe Marlin does sell them

My solvent tank and/or a wirewheel depending upon the part. Before I had a tank, I would just use many many many cans of brake clean and a brush.

Make sure to tighten up those studs or you might end up needing some
