Yea me and a buddy that has a Sammi went halfs on a 85 single cab short bed. He's takin the tranny, tcase, d lines and axles. I'm taking the rest and using the cab and bed on the runner frame. Ima bob and maybe dovetail the bed and do a exo. But just over the cab and probably two bars going along the bed rails from the rear bumper to the main hoop. I'll probably build a spare tire carrier on the rear bumper too.

I'm over the runner body because I can't take more than two people for a weekend trip like Rubicon or Fodyce. I'm tired of the open cab. I can put a hard top on it with a new tailgate and window but it's just too much weight and too much glass to break. I carry a lot of tools and with my tool box behind the back seat I can only fit my cooler, a gas or water jug, my tent and two camp chairs therefore my foodbox, BBQ, duffel bag and everything else have to go on the back seat making it so people or even my dog can't sit back there. I think the biggest thing really is how fast I hammered the body on this thing. I know to somebody that wheels it's badass (I love hammered rigs), But I want something that looks nice and can just plain get it not having to worry about body damage. With the single cab once I get past the windshield I don't have any glass I have to worry about either. That's why I'm choosing a single cab over an extra cab.

ya i deff understand what your saying. the only time i ever truly feel comfortable wheeling my truck is when i have my half doors on and my top off. it knocks off sooo much weight/glass/bulkiness, and performs pretty much just like truck. i do really enjoy ridding around with the top off during the summer but it sketches me out bad couse i know all it takes is that one ass hole to steel something. and when it comes to loading :pokinit: in the runner...there deff is an art to all the placement, at least thats what iv found out, couse it took me days to figure out where all my gear can fit perfectly. its kinda funy though couse like u said u cant take people on a wheelin trip even if you wanted to couse (atleast in my case) i always have to have the seats down. but bottom line, i love my runner for wheeling without the top and half doors but with everything on its one big pregnant dog. it would also be pretty nice to be able to change jsut the bed or the cab of a truck when it gets to messed up, and not the whole damn thing. what are you gonna do with your top for your runner?

Doof

yea for sure... after matt showed me a balling way to pack up with the back seats in a certain way you gain  lot of room. you keep the back rest for the seats up but you fold the part you sit on down so its the tub you see. you can stuff a lot of :pokinit: in that space. chris told me before our first trip that every trip after i would know what i would need to bring and what i wouldnt... ive got my :pokinit: packed now to where i get all my soft goods and food in the back seat area, and all the hard good like wood and :pokinit: or whatever else in the back back.... but i agree with both of you on the fact of the weight and window. i want to get another top and take all the glass out and maybe shave a quater to half inch of fiberglass out of it on the inside for a summer/wheelin top for shade. that would make the top really light and you would still have the shade protection if you wanted it

:twocents: , but it should be pretty cool to see your third body get up and running again

Jud

Yea I agree to what both of you said. I do love wheelin with no top in the summer tho. I'm just gonna start taking my back window out during the summer.

Matt, a buddy in Merced said he wanted the top last time we went wheelin, so he has first dibs. If he doesn't want it you can have it.

I pulled the axles outta the donor truck tonight. I also HATE nutserts in beadlocks!!! I'm just gonna hit them all out and replace them with 14mm bolts with nylock nuts on the back. I also got a 89 4 door Corolla with a back waterpump from my old step dad for $300. The water pump cost me $50 so when I put that in I'll finally have a DD!!!

Here's the new tire/wheel setup.

Donor truck. Those are the doors off my old truck and the only dent on the whole thing is on the left front of the bed.

Here's the Blue Lightning! haha

The Toy axles, tranny and case were putting under my buddies Sammi.

I finally finished getting my beadlocks sealed. I had to take the rings off and hammer the lip thing flat and do the same to the rings. after I did that they clamped and sealed good. then I went and flexed it out at our flex spot. I was hella impressed. That was the first time I actually flexed the runner out on something you can tell how high the tire is.

the stock 4runner pics is sick dude that night was hella fun

Jud

The motor went about a week ago. I was fully gettin it pinned in 3rd double low coming out of a irrigation ditch.

I've been working a lot lately.

I got the back window pulled out of the cab and the cab off the frame. I've been lagging on pulling the bed off. I'm gonna try and do that this week so I can chop the frame up and get it off my driveway.
