Has anybody seen the plethora of upcoming birthdays   :yikes:  I don't think I've EVAR seen so many!  Kinda makes me wonder if it's a glitch of some sort, especially since the majority of them are turning 5  :haha:

If you are talking about July 1st, it is the default date for anyone who didn't enter their birthday on their profile.

Mike has failed to be able to fix it.

I love it Kneedown!

I'd been dabbling on an old machine running Fedora 5 for the last year while I learned the file structure and what not.  Got to the point where I felt comfortable enough to convert my primary machine.  I used the latest Ubuntu.  Its real nice and the package manager makes it pretty easy for the average user (not me, but i wanted to check it out).   There are still some difficult tricks that ya need to know, like setting up my dual monitors and something else  :headscratch:  I forgot.

The compiz-fusion eye candy is awsome.  :yesnod:    here is an example

OS software = Free!
Productivity software = Free!   (so far i am happy with open office)

I'm not a big gamer so i don't have to worry about that.

The only Application I could not migrate was Quicken, so I have an instance of Virtual Box running an emulated XP system just for my accounting software.

damn sorry about the wordy responce.   :blah:   :gap:

In short, I am happy.  thanks.

Wermz, I really wanted to set my computer up with linux when I first got it, but my friend talked me out of it because I just hadn't used his enough to get used to it.  I like it on his though cause I never have to worry about opening up any files or extensions and getting a virus, and if I think somebody sent one to me I go to his house and open it there  :haha:

  Nice!   There still are viruses, just not as many.

If you have an old machine give it a try.  :yesnod:  For me it would have been too frustrating to just convert my only machine.  Sometimes you dont want to learn something you just want to get some work done.

Yeah, the people who actually DO have a birthday on July 1st are pretty much screwed because by the time the day comes around nobody cares to look at that huge list anymore.  LOL.  In fact, if I remember correctly, Mike disables the calendar for the couple days surrounding July 1 so the huge list isn't even there.

P.S.   What DOES the "H" stand for in Jesus H. Christ?  Maybe I should post that in the "I Wonder" thread
