Has anybody seen the newest 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine yet?  The cover truck that started life as a Toyota only has a 2 foot section of frame and the 22re engine remaining.  It is basically no longer a Toyota.  Don't get me wrong I think its a cool truggy but It belongs on the cover of Crawl Magazine not the cover of one Dedicated to Toyota's.  I think the cover truck of a Toyota Magazine should be a Toyota.  what do you guys think.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

The mag owner (Dave?) wouldn't even give the mammoth the time of day when we were out there the last couple years, and it is all Toyota except in body.
So I guess as long as it LOOKS like a Toyota then that is all that is required.
Life is like a bowl of beer flavored chocolate covered dog turds.. it makes no sense. :pokinit:

Where is the Mammoth?

How the Mammoth came to be

Number Two :pokinit:

It doesn't even look like a Toyota, its a tube buggy.  It has a big Toyota emblem.  That's it.

Do you consider the formula toyota's to be "Toyota" enough?

They are 100% Toyota (minus the body)

This cover truck literally only had the 22re engine....And the emblem

Fixed it for ya, you can also take out; steering, asperation, fuel system and so on.

About the only things toyota on those is the drivetrain, frame, and axle housings.

At what point do you consider a vehicle titled as a toyota, not a toyota? The Willy Mammoth, with as much toyota and custom fabrication as it contains, is still titled as a Willy's. The cover vehicle started as a 2wd toyota, and obviously still holds the title.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

I guess it depends on what the readers wanna see.I understand what you're saying but if you look at it,it says "How to build an UNSTOPABLE TRUGGY".If you notice Crawl mag doesen't stick stricktly to Rock Crawlers, the cover alot of Desert racing as well as short course racing.I see exactly what you're saying but I think they go by what the readers suggest and wanna see.I have a couple of friends that work for the mag,I'll have to ask them.

Is it still titled as a Toyota?  Looks to me like both places that contain the VIN plate are no longer there.  The Willy Mammoth is more of a Toyota than this thing.  Because of its Toyota Pedigree and its Gotpropane stuff I think that both this truggy and the Willy Mammoth are worthy of the pages of 4WD Toyota Owner Mag I just don't think they belong on the cover.

Do you think you will ever see a Toyota Truck with (sorry for the blasphemy) a Jeep drivetrain or a buggy with a non Jeep powertrain on the cover of JP Magazine?

O boy ....................... Ok   the Mammoth is a Willies ( OEM )    Then modified  with toy parts but is still a willy.

Now the truggy on the cover I don't know anything about, but if it started out as a toyota ( OEM ) then modified it's still a yoda.

Now heres where it gets tricky.   Say you build a frame/ chassis from scratch  and use toy parts.    Is it a Toyota  :dunno:   Custom made toyota.
what about Nascar  ford, chevy ,Toyota    are they realy  ford ,chevy,Toyota's .The manufactures says there are but,    there built in race shops.

Are you a news anchor or what?  :shake:  You edited what I said to mean something else.  I said, "Do you think you will ever see a Toyota with a Jeep drivetrain or a buggy with a non Jeep powertrain on the cover of Jp Magazine?"

Yes I am aware that there are tons of Chevy powered Jeeps with 1 ton drivetrains.   Thats the only way to make them survive on the trail.   But they are Jeep bodies.   If you can produce a cover of JP magazine that shows a complete tube buggy with no Jeep body parts or drivetrain then I will gladly admit defeat.

So those  aren't bobby's orange 60 birfield boots in that axle?  I can't really make it out too well to be sure but it looks that way from here.

that just makes meds better

Not antibiotics.

And to answer a few questions. The Mammoth is still titled as a Willys so I get your point and I would never expect something like that on the cover of a magazine like that, I just thought a sort of 'when is a Toyota not a Toyota' kind of story would be fun.

Quit complaining. Cary's TOYOTA is about as badfawkinass as it gets. It has come a long ways in the last few years. I remember seeing that thing in AZ with bungee cords holding the t-case shifters in gear and stock shackle plates used for gussets for the front spring hanger.  :talkingn:  That thing got it then and it definetly gets it now.  I for one was stoked to see it on the cover of 4wdToyotaowner.  :beerchug:

Cary made this line look easy, his buddy made it look scary.  :talkingn:
