Now that they have the gov't out of the way on that can I propose a trade?  They can get married but at the cost of them paying for AIDS research. 

Treatment costs way more than the research, once married the wife gets all of the husbands benefits and if one has it the other will too. I say they should have to pay for it themselves period.

Lets keep away from the whole AIDS thing.  All homosexuals are not infected with AIDS.  The vast majority of them are not infected with AIDS.  By the AIDS argument precedent, we would also have to deny insurance coverage to blacks as they have the highest incidents of AIDS by race.

So, in the real world where we don't think of gays as lepers...how exactly will they cost you more money by getting married?

I don't think homosexuals should have the right to be married. A civil union yes, marriage no. And don't even start with the gay adoption issue, or the artificial recreation allowing gays to reproduce....

I read an article a few months back, I think someone posted it on here. I will find the article, but to sum it up, researchers in England I believe it was, are working on ways for homosexuals to reproduce. IE: Using stem cell technology, they take two men, take the bone marrow of one man, and change it into an egg, then use the other mans sperm to inseminate the "egg" of the other man. Then the baby is grown in a test tube. Vise versa for women, take one's marrow make it into sperm and blah blah. As insane as it sounds they are working on it, not sure what kind of progress they have made but somewhere, someone is being funded to do this...let me find the article.

No from what I gathered once the whole marrow to sperm/egg process is done its just like any "normal" person, though I am sure with the higher concentration of genes from two male or two female parents it might sway the balance towards the sex of the two parents. Not really sure though thats just my guess

You'd THINK they'd have a better use of there money and time. Like helpful stem-cell research.

Women don't have the Y chromosone, so women would only have girls

Men have both the X & Y, so they could have a boy (XY) or girl (XX).    I don't think the YY combination would be viable.

I'm not ignorant enough to say that one guy poking another is the only way to spread aids at all.  BUT 99% of all aids cases in the US is caused by human action.  Sure that chick you took home from the bar LOOKED clean but 6 months later you don't pass and aids test.  Who should pay for the research to fix it?  I don't give two shakes about you suffering due to your own stupidity.  Should have wrapped it before ya tapped it and you wouldn't have this issue.   

Go look and see what the fastest growing segment of the population has the fastest growing amount of aids cases then get back to me.

  Dude, studies have shown sexual orientation is not a choice, gays are just born that way. I remember in high school this guy was obviously a f*g and he didn't even know it yet. this happens all the time, some kids are born gay and it's not their choice.
The ability to live a full life should not be hindered by something a person can't control.

Hate to say it WT, but that is the way society has turned out. Look at stupid people (Don't have to look far, as we're surrounded by them) we are forced to provide for them all the time, and many laws are in place to protect them from themselves.

As for gay marriage, I'd have to agree that it should be a civil union, and with it comes all the benefits of marriage. I don't believe it should be called marriage. I wish I could explain my reasoning better, but it's just a gut feeling.

Oh I understand that very well unfortunately...  If people would simply read the communist manifesto and see what the democratic party has become (they weren't always like they are today) they'd be frightened (or at least I'd hope they would be) to see that Carl Marx was a raving lunatic for one and that the "new" democratic party is leading the unknowing masses down the road to socialism and collectivism which just flat out does not work.  Yes its been tried time and time again and it just flat does not work...  The "providing" class always quits working and joins the "provided" class to reap the bennies the the system collapses.

 well if there's so few of these gays and lesbos that want all the benefits of marriage, then giving them a tax break shouldn't be a big deal. The problems of a few can be supplemented by many.   
  If we end up with universal health care then the AIDS patients will be fully covered by tax dollars anyway.

You are missing the point, once a program is started by the govt it NEVER shrinks, it only expands...   So giving a break to a few will start a precedent which will be followed by later courts allowing the program to expand.  I don't care if there are only 3 fruity couples on the face of the earth that want to be married I still say to hell with that idea.
