How much cutting of the fenders are you going to do to allow those 37s to fully flex ?

I am about to install the same 4" marlin front kit and I'd like to run 37s with minimal cutting if any.

No trimming necessary. They have plenty of room, already flexed it out to check. The rear will need a lot of work, just haven't gotten motivated enough to do it yet. The 37's do hit the front leafs when turning either way though. I need to find 17x8's that aren't 4.5" BS...

well i think it is still going to be a while till dual cases and bumpers/sliders but we will see, it just depends on work at the shop, the more work the more money, and its starting to pick back up so maybe sooner than later. but if you are going to the rubicon in september i hope i'll have it together and maybe go wheelin

I don't know. I think that's the weekend I move into my dorm. I'm not sure. If I can't make it I'd be down to do Rubicon the weekend before.

Also, I made it up the grade yesterday in the Relentless Runner. Haha.

Atascadero to SLO, I went back on the 41 because I didn't feel like doing the entire northbound grade in second gear. I need to get motivated and finish this thing up.

Update, kinda. Shock towers and 14" Bilsteins are in.

Plated with some 3/16's.

Moving my rear shackle hangers back.

Those things suck to remove for sure...

2" back with the new ones.

Paint that I never give time to dry.

Done.

It evened out the stance a bit, and it seems like I have a lot less body roll while turning. Also the 37's don't munch the body on every turn/speedbump now. Still waiting for those springs to settle, they've only got a couple hundred street miles on them so far.

And I figured out I'm getting 15 mpg with the 4.10's and 37's, haha. Not bad.

Looks nice! Yes those hangar mounts are a beotch to grind off! I would highly recommend gusseting those shock hoops (even with the frame plating)

Yeah I was thinking about it. I saw that tittiecrawler and Tallchevy both broke theirs off. I don't know though... My 84 just has them straight up welded to the frame with no plating, and no gussets, and I've put them through hell for three years and they still look cherry.

Well it's been a while. I've been working on this thing pretty much every day for a month straight. Where to start?

I ordered some Cragar Soft 8's with custom backspacing to solve some rubbing issues I had. The tires would hit the leaf packs when I turned and the rears would rub the frame pretty hard. I went from a 17x8 4.5"BS to a 17x8 3"BS.

With new wheels it gave me an excuse to install the Staun internal beadlocks I had sitting in my garage for over 2 years.

New valve stems and internal valve stem hole drilled.

Now onto the big project. Body and paint. First to strip it down, those factory stripes were really growing on me. It's a shame they had to go.

Making some room.

Another cut.

A small piece of metal was bent and tacked in to fill the gap all around.

Some filler pieces.

Grind it down and retack as necessary. Rinse and repeat.

Pulled out some warpage from welding.

Pulling more dents, bondo, putty, sanding, etc.

The other side.

Some dope rollers.

Topless.

Sanded down, taped up, time for some primer.

Primer

Guide coated.

Windshield was removed to fix some rust.

It was block sanded, then it went back to the booth for more primer, and more block sanding. I'll spare you guys on those pictures though.

Then the doors and fenders came off, and it went back to the booth to get the jambs painted.

Mixing up some paint.

BMW Alpine White.

Blacked out core support and aprons, doors and fenders back on, wet sanded, bagged up again, ready for paint!

i can only imagine all the work it took to get the spacing on those stripes to be equal... any tips on that? im gonna be doin a basic paint job soon but jus always wondered how people got those things so damn strait! but again dude. looks awesome!

Well it took more than 3 hours of taping per side. Probably 7 hours of taping total. It was tedious, and I felt like I was losing my mind.
