Ya know, in looking at these pics again this does not seem possible.
How did he go from the position in Picture 5 to getting in the back of the car in Picture 6?

TO SNOPES!

Nope, nothing there yet.

Hmmm.. there seems to be some sort of cable attached to the front of it.

Thats legit and a huge repost....  :P

Look at the attachments to keep the backhoe from sliding off the sides of the train car.  You think someone did a photo shop on that and added in those details?  :hahaha:

I swear I've seen a video on this.

once you get the front of the hoe up and the back end leveled out with the stick, then is pulled onto the boxcar until the outriggers can be put down on top of the car. Same to get off pick it up and pull the car out from under enough to lower yourself down. Once on top all movement is done with picking up the rear and pushing yourself forward on the skids on the bucket.

I get a kick out of peoples reactions to this, how its fake and whatever. He's like what 12-14 feet up?  pfft. Come spend a day at work with me and we'll take some BIG hoes off 25 ft verticals  :talkingn:

Getting out would be much scarier than getting in/on...I wouldn't do either of them.

the backhoe is supported on the outriggers and bucket on top of the side rails of the car, see the guides on the outrigger and front bucket? the backhoe is never down inside the car its on top the whole time  ;)

I rember seeing a guy walk one of those backhoes down a creek bed to rerscue a stuck 4wd. The backhoe was so heavy it couldn't drive itsself to the stranded 4wd without sinking 4ft in the soft waterlogged sand. I have also seen em take down trees by digging out the root system on one side, then pushung from the other these same trees couldn't be pushed over by a bulldozer. They are amazing machines.

I knew KYOTA would post up.  I've spendt alot of time around family members that own and operate heavy equipment and seen them do things that seem to defy gravity!   :yikes:

Then again when you least expect it they will prove that gravity does exist, I used to move 75' x 12' elevator shaft supports and they would stand my crane on the inside outriggers and lift the outside about 4' off the ground. Considering that the boom was almost vertical to begin with I think the crane was defying gravity but don't tell a stuck swing lever that. I never saw so many hard hats run away that fast in my life, It then slowly rolled onto the boom and hit the ground with me and the crane in tow. So then with the boom sitting on the ground I brought it horizontal, I retracted the inside outriggers and it righted itself landing on the outside outriggers. My foreman scratched his head and said how'd you do that to which I replied dumb luck.
