Don't get me wrong, I idolize your truck and to see someone else drive it and abuse it... would suck ass.

But a Tacoma on Portals would make me wet for sure.

it would be my cousin buying it, so it would still be in the family

as far as a taco on portals..... i was doing research on portals and to get them and have them built would cost at least 8k by themselves  :smack: i think id rather build tons with longs.....

portals are stupid in my opinion.  Everything you can buy for them in like double any other axle they raise your center of gravity by like what 6 or 8 inches theres way more parts to break and they are like twice as much if not more just to buy them stock. Im with thomas I would get tons and build those I've seen trucks spanks protals with tons or rockwells.  Just think thomas if you had portals on your rig right now it would be like 6 or so inches taller than it allready is wtf good would that do besides make it super easy to flop... If you go protals your going to have to link it front and back to make it have a somewhat low stance, and thats another 4gs then your gunne have to hack the body to all to hell for tire clearence. By the time your done it would be more tubes than body. I would take rockwells or built tons over portals any day.  :twocents:  :twocents:  :twocents:  :twocents:

my truck may not be worth 8k to you because its not what you want but it is to the right person

rockwells are pretty much the same pain in the ass as portals. theres no way they are easier to put under a truck then portals. the chunk is so big its the same difference with the mog housing being 4" higher. if you look around you can find 404s between 2-3K. if you think thats expensive, its not. gear and lock at set of 1 tons and your already above that. mogs are cool, there geared and come with selectable lockers right off the bat. you can buy a kit to convert the cable locker to air actuated. my friends toyota is on 42s and mogs and the frame is 26" off the ground....there really strong to, i bet you couldnt break one with toyota power and 42s.

i deffinately agree!  mog axles kick ass!  the differential clearance is unbelievable.  i rode in a buddy's buggy thats rockin 40" sticky krawlers and portals. he beat the hell out of those axles on our hardest trails for five days in a row and never broke anything!

why was he blowin them?
because im used to 39.5 iroks that would never blow beads at 4lbs front and 3lbs rear, i tried to do that for one obstacle with the 42's and it was a failure.......

not gonna dump that kinda cash on stauns unless i can get them used, but im thinking about the inchworm screws on both sides of the rim.... what do you all think??

if i run 5lbs front and 4lbs rear i do fine, but i want to go lower for the snow

DO IT DUDE!!!! I think thats my solution on aluminum wheels since beadlocking an aluminum is not cheap.

and its less detectable by law enforcement..... so street legal? haha

i was thinking about doing the inners first, and then thinking about the outers..... outers are easy to pop back on, ive put on 100 beads using my on board air, and no fire........ so i can handle a few outer blown beads if i come across them
