Are you asking how to put a V6 manual transmission into a 4-cyl Tacoma?

If so, then what year is this Tacoma?

no.... sorry i was kind of unclear. it is a marlin crawler with 228 gears (so i figured it would be best to ask here)

it is set up to go in a 4cyl manual tacoma.
but my truck is a 6cyl manual tacoma.

i was told i should email CJ at marlin, so i did. he told me i need to just change the coupler on the output. and he didnt say it but i am assuming the front adapter would need to be changed also..... but i dont know enough to say for sure..

sorry again for the crappy post guys

TTT

i'm the same boat. I assume (from research) that the 23 to 26 spline coupler will need to be changed out to a 23-23???
I need 1 38x12.5-15 SX half tread-ish to complete a set. Please PM me if you have one

Ok. All Marlin Crawler TacoBox Tacoma Crawlers use a 23-spline input. This is a certain fact.

The V6 5spd transmission has a 23-spline output shaft.
The I4 5spd transmission has a 26-spline output shaft.

As for the front adapter plate, there is NO difference between a V6 or a 4cyl bolt pattern, so we use the same front 1/2" thick billet aluminum adapter plate for either the 3.4 V6 or the 2.7 4cyl transmissions.

So you guys are correct, the ONLY difference is the coupler between the transmission and the Marlin Crawler.

The 4cyl setup requires a 26-->23 spline conversion coupler  But unfortunately we are out of stock on this particular coupler

yeah i got all my parts now. the 26 spline output just needed to be changed to a 23. it was 159 i beleive. i ended up selling the 26 spline very fast because they are currently out of stock and have been for a while. so somone got lucky.

bigmike.... the input on my unit is not total spline... do you know if your "heavy duty coupler"  will be affected by this?  im just curious because i dont know how far the input is supposed to slide into the coupler yet...  seeing as how the non total spline input has the shoulder on it i figured it might keep things from facing up all the way.

OK, so these are prob. newbi questions but I am comfused..........

Is this the coupler you speak of?

I bought a used MC-09 from someone off a 2.7 taco.... this is what I have. The spline count on it is 26. I'll be putting the crawler in a '00 3.4/5sp taco. Until I saw this thread I was under the impression that all I needed to buy at this point was the front adapter and a 23 spline input shaft.

So I keep this? Its 26 spline when counted????

Get the 350.00 front adapter

and the 160.00 23spln input?

Some what off topic but i'm considering the 4.7 set as if you have to get the 23spl. input its only 240.00 more for the whole 4.7 gear set. My question is will the output on the chain case hold? I've seen a v8 tundra break it but im alot lighter and have less motor. Is it safe or would bobby's cromo output be needed??  Bikemike prolley knows???

Or....

I have a buddy with a spare 26 spline 4cyl taco case that I could trade my 23 spline 6cyl taco case for. Is the strength lost going from 23 to 26 worth  buying a part twice? I.E. have the 26 spline coupler and the case trade wouldnt cost anything.

FYI.. this setup will be going in an IFS truck with 4.10's/35's...for a while at least.
