Electronics info for a crawler
« on: Nov 17, 2008, 10:19:42 AM »
I am looking at a Venom Creeper in the near future. What is a budget esc that I can find with an instant reverse or something close.  The Rooster is a little pricey but seems to be the best for the price. Also, I am looking at the traxxas 3ch tq3, they are cheap and look nice. Then a servo I am lost. I want a strong metal gear servo that can turn the tires easily without spending a ton. I need opinions on a semi budget setup. Any help is appreciated.

What is your take on the wiggle servo from CKRC? It says it is stronger than the 645 but is it as proven?

its stronger (has more tourqe) i think its even a little cheaper. but like you said i dont think its as proven as the 645... my hobby shop always has parts for the 645s so thats what ive always ran in my crawlers.

I just read a lot of posts on the rooster crawler and the infamous glitching. Has anyone here experienced this?

i had a rooster and it glitched pretty bad. i always thought it was because i bought it used?
the rooster is nice cause the super fast reverse but i think it is a little out dated.
it was the poop 3-4 years ago but i am sure there is better stuff out these days
good luck
got another 85 runner. build coming soon!!

i'm not doing it to be a crawler, i just want something i can thrash on.. i'm actually going to paint it a purple/pink and give it to my daughter... it will be my toy, but i will play with it with her.. i already have it, its a special edition rc10 truck, its got a gold annodized chassis, i got it for liek $25 back in high school, it doesn't have nay electrics, and was missing the rear dogbones, but i've priced mip cvd, and still can get them cheap... might need some new rear tires too.... i have a radio system i plan on using in it, a spare from my tmaxx that isnt running, have batteries, have a peak performance motor, have servos, just need an esc to get it running, i might look into a janky mechanical esc that is servo operated, jsut because you can get those new for $15

Actually I found a nice set up that isn't too bad in price.  Mamba sidewinder with a 45-55t lathe. 100ish total and WAY better esc than a Rooster.
