Just be glad the work to be done is for yourself.

I did an engine swap in 3 days on a friend of mine's full size Blazer just 2 weeks before we moved. After putting aside my "work to be done" to help him out...long story... :blah: :blah: :blah:.  He didn't even pay me for the job which was a more than fair price.  :snare:

That was 6 years ago.  :tantrum: He eventually never called me and I just don't care anymore. We haven't spoke since.  I'm not one to let money get between me and any of my friends. It's just the way he did it, you know, "I don't have the money now I'll pay you in 2 weeks" then it was "next month" and so on  :blah:.  But I will say this, he's now getting his comeuppance and more.  ;)

Pull locking hub cap and remove snap ring. (remember this first step  :hammer:  )
Unbolt seal/felts on back of knuckle.
Unbolt brake caliper and tie out of the way. (can be skipped if you have long brake lines)
Unbolt steering arm. (leave bottom knuckle cap alone)
Pull entire outer knuckle assembly off of axle.
Swap in your parts.
Put it back together.
It's a big-time shortcut since you don't need to mess with the 54mm socket or wheel bearings.

I destroyed the truniun bearing.  I had to take the birf out to fix it.

I actually worked on the rig. I got the birf pulled and got the truniun bearing changed. Putting the birf in and putting the arm on the pass side. The driver side arm is on.

I finally got the bumper mounts cut off so that I can push the box up as far as possible.  I got the arms on and the truniun bearing fixed.  All I have left to do is cut next to the rad support measure and drill out the holes clean the frame and weld in the Marlin bracket kit.  After hooking up the lines and the steering shaft I should be good.

clamped the mount after mocking up the box, had to cut the mount jig a bit to push the box up further past the rad wall

holes are all drilled out

got it fit in and lined up

past the wall and aligned with the steering shaft

the arm clears barely everything is hooked up.

time to take it apart and clean the frame to weld it.  Cut the rad wall a bit more for better clearance and drill the plastic out of the steering shaft and extend the shaft :gap:

Looking good! You're half way there.   You might look into the 3/4" less drop steering arm from Skyy. It will fit closer to the frame and clear the springs better too. If you go that route, you'll also need the right tie rod end for the new arm.

Mine looked just like yours does now and the arm fixed the clearance issue I had between the arm and the spring under compression.  :gap:  (spring would hit arm

Check into it.  :cheese:
