Hey man, be real safe with that... I volunteer on my day off to work in the combat hospital here in Iraq, and I see EOD guys come through probably two or three times a month.

red

will do, out of curiosity what are their injuries usually from? shrapnel from being too close?

That and small arms fire.  Most of your time will be spent outside the wire disarming IEDs.

kinda figured that i would be out alot, whats the air forces policy on extra body armor for the extremeties? ie crotch, neck, and shoulder protection such as purchasing the dragon skin stuff from pinnacle armor? i know the army doesnt allow it, the marines do, but i dont know the air forces view.

lol i dont think ur gonna break somethin on ur jeep, you dont hammer it offroad from what i've seen.

if i dont make EOD my aptitude field is mechanical so i'd probably  get transferred to working on jet engines or ground equipment.

I haven't seen what sort of armor they wear because they're "prepped" by the time I see them, but I'm sure they're hooked up pretty good.  The USAF won't want you to die, so as long as you wear the minimum required (whatever that is), you can probably wear whatever you want.  Regarding the dragon skin, I have no idea.  I don't know any EOD guys, either, or I'd ask.

With the reduction in manning that's going on, if you wash out of EOD school, you'll probably be discharged.  That's not a definet, though, but don't count on washing out if you don't like it and being reshredded...

red

interesting, i dont plan on washing out though, gonna do what i can to make it.

will do evan
