I just drove by an early 90's Chevy dually on my way to work...odd paint job...$1500.  I am thinking of trading up to something newer that requires less work...

Anybody know anyone that wants a beastmaster?   Hmmmmmm.

So you are going from one beast to another? At least you'd be getting away from a Ford (sorry FFC), granted from the looks of what it had been through some of the issues were man-made. What engine is in the dually? Is it a crewcab? Don't get a crewcab with the 350 they suck.

It is an extended cab, not sure if it is 4wd, don't know what engine either.  If it is there on the way home I may call.

what year is it? 93+ will have either the 454 gasser or the 6.5L diesel (i can walk you through everything to get the 6.5 to be nearly flawless). if its 92- it should be the 73-92 boxy body (73-92 1 tons, 73-88 1/2 and 3/4 ton), could be the 350, 454, or 6.2L diesel.

It is definitely the newer body style, not the box body.

What?  You don't believe the Beast runs like a top now, but needs tender loving care to get her looking pretty again?

Looked at the $1500 dollar pickup, owner knows nothing...said go look it is open.

It is in rough shape, but seems to be decent frame and drivetrain wise.  Color is HORRIFIC!!!  Interior is shredded.

What motor is this??  Sorry, crappy cell pics.

454. no turbo means its not the 6.5L diesel, and the size of it screams 454.

looks like the alternator and brake master cylinder have been replaced fairly recently as well. from that era thats the best motor for towing (most powerfull), fuel economy your looking at 7-12mpg loaded/unloaded. how many miles on it?

Didn't even look at the mileage...figured it was the 454...looked to big for the 5.7 and it def ain't no diesel.  I knew it wasn't a diesel when I drove up and it had 2.5 inch exhaust.  Looks like there are a few new parts under the hood, chassis looks clean, it is from Texas.  Door sticker is too worn down to read anything on it cause the hinges are crap and the door isn't shutting properly.  Interior is mostly gone.  Stereo, etc had all been pulled, glove box hanging by a thread.  Fenders are beat, but fixable/replaceable.  Paint is terrible, but that's what MAACO is for.  Looks like the wheels might be aftermarket aluminum, but desperately need a polish.  Has a hitch and trailer wiring, glass roll pan in the back as well.  It is 2wd.

It is an auto...what 4L80E??  14 bolt rear.  Buncha junk in teh bed.  Front seats are...I don't even know.

PASS!

Do some searching on line before making any deals. You can find some older Ford diesels for cheap. 7.3 or older, stay away from the early 6.0's

auto is the 4L80E, rear axle is the 10.5" 14 bolt full floater rear. unless you could get it for 700-800 i'd pass, easy to find trucks in better shape for the same price.

how heavy of a load are you looking to pull?

i agree but its not just the early 6.0's, ford engineers really screwed up that motor.

I am pulling my toyota, 18 ft trailer.

Want at least a 3/4 ton, would prefer a 1 ton.  Like duallys, would settle for a std bed with a good diesel.  Would prefer a manual but will take an auto for a good price.  Not too picky.

Don't know about the price range.  I am going to see if the Beast sells and then evaluate...maybe I can convince myself I can spend $3500 or so.  I probably have a month to a month and a half before I will need a rig.

After seeing the interior I don't think that Chevy is going anywhere fast.  I will wait on making a decision and keep poking around for a diesel.

I'd do some shopping around.  Test drive, do some research before you jump into something else.
