:hahaha:

We have been doing our 4runners at almost the same pace for the same amount of time! I started tearing my 4runner down August of 2006. I just wish I could have had a lift to use, would have made things go a little smoother :D

I still have a ways to go with my truck too. Are you going to do an exocage or an internal?

An internal cage that i recently got from www.4xinnovations.com and i'll probably tie the rock sliders into the front and rear bumpers.

that's funny, i saw you driving your 4runner at cuesta.  you already had the lift on and you were driving on those tiny tires headed to auto tech.

i was in my runner on 37's going the other way, i chuckled when i saw it.  i don't know if you remember, it was back in september.

Ok well i finally got my cage started this weeknd.  I baught the cage from 4xinnovations and i got it a couple weeks ago but just didn't have time till this weeknd to start it, i did have to make some modifications to make it fit a little better, such as raising the b pillar a couple inches and shortening the rear bars 4 inches so that it would clear the hard top and my can back, also grind some of the notching so it fit a little more snug.  so here are some pics, i didn't get it all welded up becuase i ran out of wire and i didn't get it bolted to the body and tied into the frame yet either but that will be next weeknd. so here are some pics of the progress.

before pics

Here are the extensions i made for raising the b pillar

A while back i didn't have pics of this so i took some and thought i would share,  I rigged up a throttle control on my shifter.  I used a three speed shifted because it fit perfect on the shifter and with my grip on the handle, and i could click it once and raise the idle to what ever i set it at, also if i apply a little more pressure i can use it just like the gas pedal and open or close the throttle.

Wow, looking good! I have long debated over exo or internal and I am wondering, how much tighter of a squeeze is it now with the cage installed? I am a big guy (6' 3") and I have always thought an internal cage would really cramp up the front seats.

yeah i was kinda worried about that as well too, that is why i had to raise the B pillar because the way it was pre bent.  I am 6' 5" and if i were to just weld it in the way it was then it would have been to close to my head, but because i raised the b pillar now the A pillars are as far up as they can be without touching the roof and i have plenty of head clearance.

Cool. I might just be doing an internal cage here pretty soon. I don't have access to any tools to make extensions but i have a few friends with shops so I will have them make some for me. Thanks for the info man.

yeah no problem, make sure you have someone else to help you hold everything in place while you tack weld things together because you need to hold a bunch of pieces toghether at once to make sure you have everything lined up and level or vertical.
