Colt

today I installed the heating valve

3mm plate of aluminum

junkyard shopping: the valve comes out of an nearly new Honda.

I will add an return spring when I find one...  :cheese: And the hoses will be connected when I put the new radiator in.

on to the inside
I made an mockup out of cardboard

and the final piece out of 3mm aluminum plate

thats all for this weekend, tomorrow we went for short trip to my parents-in-law... ;)

Colt

I still had a few things to do but too short with time...

AND I got a servo steering!

steering pump

expansion reservoir

got the used hydraulic lines from an friend from austria

i had to cut them to the right length and flange the lines to make em fit.
but then they line up perfect!

next will be putting oil in and an fitting v-belt on. Maybe next week-end...  :yesnod:

after that I will fit in one of the cb-radios I received as a gift...

Colt

Oh, I forgott: last month I bought an trailer...

nice combination....

Colt

I added a jerry can holder

painted it black and back on the beast

and made a bracket for the cb-antenna out of scrap metal

:shake_head: i missed the last answers!  Sorry!!!

@tt
thank you!

@ÜncleĴ
these tires are for heavy load at higher speed (100km/h) plus you could get a low platform height.

Colt

The last progress I made:

took out the radiator because I need the space. The reason will follow later... ;)

but driving around without radiator isn`t a real good idea. Pipe made of cooper and some epdm fittings:

under the cabin

to the wooden deck

to the radiator on the deck

the radiator is out of an VW VR6 with nearly 300HP. It should provide enough cooling. 8)

with an self-made fan shroud

this fan has 250watt on the high level and 60 on low

self made t-fitting with expansion tank out of an VW.

and back to the engine with the cool water ;)

and now the reason of this build:
-the cooler doesn`t get dirty while diving through mud pits
-theres enough space in the engine bay for the winch and a second batterie:

red is the place for the second batt and yellow for the winch

hope i could post more progress tomorrow  :crossed:

Colt

Not much progress because we changed the axles on a friends truck.

the donor truck

the frame and body are scrap because of rust but the rest is super!

his snowlux:

old 1:4.11 to new 1:4.56
we "simply" changed the axles so nothing adjustment needed to the diff!

but back to the beast:

i forgot something to get the air out of the engine. I cut a piece of copper down and drilled a hole to fitt in a brazen hex-nut.

After that i soldered the nut in:

I widened the ends of the pipe with a modified molegrip

the pipe end have to be annealed. nothing spectacular, just get it hot until its like a cherry ;) once the temperature is reached it will stay soft even it is chilled down.

getting the pipe in and tested:

the engine don`t run on this picture!

Colt

To get it street legal i had to cover the tire tread.

I will ad some rubber flaps so i don`t get turned over on every trip...  :shakehead:

But on to the nicer things:
cutting out the cross-beam

now its enough space for the winch

the old winch mount is out of my 3rd gen pickup. It have to be cut down to make it fit.

I want to keep the original bumper simply cause i like the look!

took out some sheet metal

tagged it in

welded it completely in and grinded it smoth

NotSoPC

I like the way the stock style bumpers look with the winch behind them . Good looking truck  :beerchug:

@NotSoPC
Thank you. The pulley only sticks out 5mm

Today I completed the winch mount and the bumper.

winch mount ready welded, painted

and on the beast

I don`t now where the missing pulley ist...

The top of the bumper needs to be cut out to clear the wire while pulling out of wholes.

tack welded

completely welded and smothened

and finished:

the wire rope and all the electric things are still missing but i`m afraid i haven`t the time to do that this week.
hope i finish it next week...  :crossed:

Colt

sorry for the long time without update...  :-\

added an fan guard

I fixed the wiring but I decided to keep the wiring simple and not to use the second switching stage.

the relay needed a cover because I cracked the first relay by standing on it  :hammer: Not a real big deal but out on the trails real annoying...

finished the fender flares

Colt

and yesterday I emblazed the beast with flower arrangement:

and now we are married!

locked 4x4

What a great build   congradulations
