That sucks!!! Just hate to see that nice wood work getting covered up like that. Still look awesome though.

Would it be too late to make a door in the bed itself so that the fuel neck is completely under the bed or would that still be a problem with safety inspections? Doing this to a 55 Chevy a buddy and me have been restoring. Also I'd imagine you're using/used some kind of sealer for the wood, right? I'd think that would be enough for stopping gas drops from soaking into
the wood. Just some thoughts.

I like the idea with the door in the wood. Perhaps I make this after the next trip to Romania that will start end of next week. I have to hurry up with the rest...

Oh, and it looks not that bad since it`s painted

Colt

there is still more cable work to do...

getting the signal horn to work was the most difficult today, because it is switched to ground. I`ve never seen that on European cars  :headscratch: but hey, it works so it`s ok  ;)

i hope tomorrow i will get the wiper motor and the window washer to work  :crossed:

Colt

more progress:

new vs. old

i build a new snorkel out of 90x3mm polyethylene tube

todo:

-bracket for the glove box
-valve for the heating system
-rockslider
-finishing front winch mount & bumper
-dropping in a cb-radio
-ceiling light

-eliminate the engine overheating
-build a snorkel
-new signal-horn
-wiper control
-washer wires and hoses

KDXSR5

I like that bed a lot. I have watched this build off and on from the beginning, and it has turned out very nice. You do good work! Keep it up!

Colt

i forgot the plan for the next five days:

-finishing the missing tasks
-Tuesday buying a limited registration just to drive 20mls to safety inspection.  :hammer:
-passing safety inspections and smoke test  :crossed:
-Wednesday getting the permanent registration
-Thursday driving the beast 1000mls to Romania. Last year I drove 25 hours without any rest...  :cheese:

Colt

finished the snorkel:

cb-radio:

and the best:

it is moving!

but the radiator leaks and the visco fan doesn`t work properly  :rivers: no chance to get the missing parts in time (only two days to our Romania trip) I have to take my old pickup for that trip and finish the beast later...  :confounded:

That`s an Albrecht AE 5290 MULTICHANNEL. I don`t think that it is very common in the US...  I try to get a better pic this evening.

What did you use for the tube from the fender to the intake on the motor?
Life is too short!!!   Do something with it!!!

Thats a flexible aluminium tube (90mm diameter) and is usually used as ventilating tube. The ends are sealed with some kind of silicone adhesive.

skipnrocks

cool.... it looks good!  Have you used it before? Is it durable?   I like it, I will have to find some for when I put my snorke in..

Hello all together,

first I had to puff the dust out of that tread...    :o Half a year no update!  :shake_head:

But the last six month was the craziest of my life. You now the old song "find a girl, settle down, if you want you...." OK, not married until now but with a decent ring on the hand.  8)

The new job is very cool, but unfortunately  I haven`t much time for my projects! :(

So an now on to the really important things in life (hope my girl never reads this...  :cheese: )

started with a 3" seamless rolled steel pipe

an hour of cutting, grinding and welding later

second side

round plates out of 10mm steel, ground out of scrap

after more grinding

square tube and plate for screwing it on the frame

I think it comes along very nicely, isn`t it?

The next update will follow the next weekend I promise  :crossed:
at the moment here are special carnival celebrations. Something like Mardi Gras... Lots of fun for old and young. And no neighbor calls the police cause of working on the street..  :wink2:

more progress:

added some 30mm alloy wheel spacers to the beast :yesnod:

before

after

it seems I had to widen the fenders once more to keep it street legal

now on to the sliders:

fixed with straps

welded it all together

the hooks on the brackets are for the exhaust

painted it black in the living room  :shocking:

I like it...

Colt

Hello all together.

today i only get one small thing done:

now it never rains in the snorkel...  :hammerhead:

hope I will find this weekend the time to get the power steering on!
