hi-output alt upgrades

any ideas on hi-ouput alt upgrades w/o spending a small fortune? I have an 80, 4o amp, not looking fwd to spending sevral hundred bucks on premier welding set-up, ect :help:

1980, that is, I think its a 40 amp.... whatever was oem for that year

Here is a link on how I installed a 160 amp on my 3.0 V-6. I bought the alternator from Summit and the also make welding setups. Embedded it the thread is a link from Erik B on installing one on a 22 re.

or get a  alt  from a  80-84 celica  and mount it  where  the old smog pump was

the 85 toyota trucks used a 60 amp internally regulated alternaor, but the wiring is a little bit different, its what i am running in my truck

 would it be possible to run dual alts? the celica type were the smog pump was, and the original-pros/cons?

hey, i have a celica alt, that i yanked off of a 22re i thought it was the same as mine but no......... if you want it you can have it for $15, thats what i think I paid at pick n pull
'85 EFI X cab SR5. 42" Iroks, Dual ultimates etc.

been doing it  with great results  for about 3 years
