and about my driver side front tire, i can see it s wearing more than my other tires. should i just leave it and rotate them every oil change or get those off  set races for the positive camber or whatever thats called

motorider228

I remember doing some research when the runner was originally mine.  I believe it is the G58 tranny.  I very possibly could be wrong but I remember being bummed because I could not just run 4.7's in the chain driven case.  The research I did pointed me in the direction of duals with a chain to gear adapter.

So whats up Max, anything new? I am back over seas  :hammer:

i might be going to iraq in july
In Iraq right now, pretty f :lipsrsealed: n cold here. It rained all day yesterday.

Have you found out anything on the tranny in the Runner? Thought the guy you bought it from said he found it to be a G58? I think once you get a gear drive case in there and change the T-case mount, your front drive shaft angle will be better.  :twocents: You still thinking duals or single with 4.7's?

Sucks for you man, found some info on your tranny/t-case. Bad news, well not to bad. Like I told you, Jason has a tranny and fwd shift t-case if you need to buy one. And you are gona need one. Found this info on the Facts thread on PBB

89-95 22RE(G58) forward shift chain drive transfercase 26-spline will not accept adapters or gear sets. These are 22RE/4X4 Models with 5 spd and ADD.
ADD = Automatic Differential Disconnect

So all your stuff will have to be changed out. Good thing Jason has that stuff at his place

There is a quality driveline shop here in Utah called Tom Woods Driveline. Shipping is free and they have a lifetime warranty on their work and joints.

may be a single with 4.7s for now. then upgrade to duals later on. or should i just get the duals at once with a drive line

No the tranny and t-case he has will mount right up to your motor. Think either a W56 or G54  :dunno:Would have to buy a new t-case shock mount.

4.7's will give you close to the same low range as duals. But since you need to get drive shafts made anyway, might as well go duals and upgrade the rear with 4.7's later. Since Jason has a tranny a t-case already for you, you need to get anothe TOP SHIFT t-case, dual case adpt and cross memeber. Then drive shaft work once they are in.

Just keep in mind that you will have more gear options with the dual cases and you will still have your factory high where just going with 4.7s in your existing single case you will compromise your high gear.

Hows that?? I could still go down the road doing 80mph with my single case and 4.7's. The gears take place of the low range gears and the high range is still 1 to 1.

jedrattle

Just do the duals and be done with it!!! You will be mad you didn't do it sooner!! :talkingn:
`87 runner....it was stock....now sas'd, 37's, duals, geared/ locked, 10in bob, half doors, rock lights. etc., etc.,.........coming soon a 3.4 swap!!!

Max, get the tranny and t-case from Jason and then hit this add up and see if the guy still has it. Then you need just the doubler adpt. :beerchug:

Yeah with my single case and 4.0s and my high range was still stock. just the low range was super low.
