Starting probs....
« on: Oct 08, 2007, 09:22:49 AM »
So I didn't drive my truck for a week and it started right up... then the next day all it would do is crank over and over,.... it just wouldn't fire... so I tried it again the next day, and it started up fine.... then this morning it just cranked again.... So I rolled it out of the driveway and popped the clutch and it started right up....  Why would it crank over and over and not start, but when I push start it, it fires up??!?!?!? Any ideas??

Next time it just cranks and don't start, stop wait a second and try it again. Let me know if it starts or at least fires.

What is your fuel pressure?

turn the key on and off about five times without engaging the starter. Then try to start it. If it then starts, there is a leak in the fuel system causing low fuel pressure. Turning the key on and off many times turns the fuel pump on many times, which will increase your fuel pressure enough for it to start. I had this problem before I swapped my old 22RE out for a newer one. Tell us what you find.
