just thought I would register. I have a 91 4runner with a 3.0 with a dead number 6. Think its the head gasket or a toasted valve. I am lookin into the 2.7 swap like the 3.4 but those are a bit pricey. I am around the Pueblo West area if anyone wants to teach me the ways of Toyota this is my first Toyota.
Currently working on a 92 Sonoma with a built LT1, then move on to my 4runner. The 4runner is daily right now, even with 5 cylinders it still gets me a to b with no issues.

thanks guys, and yes I have been reading the site all week and decided to say hi. This is where I learned of the 2.7 swap and really want to do it. For weight, more room in the bay and I like that engine. I was goin to just buy another 3.0 the 3.4 is big money if I find a cheap one maybe.  When the motor dies or next spring which ever comes first I will be asking many questions.
Big day tomorrow. Sold my Jeep J20 to someone and I am delivering it to Ft Collins.

I think the 3.4 swap would be easier than swapping to the 3RZ personally.  Your current tranny won't bolt to the 2.7.

I know the 3.4 would be easier but I really like that 3rz/2rz. So you are in the pueblo area that means you volunteer this spring to help with the swap, Thanks Man   I have to finish my Sonoma this winter and drive it while the 4runner is under the knife.

I only have 2 pics
what it looked like 2 weeks ago

I removed running boards this past weekend, this weekend I am taking the roof rack off I lost the key to it so I am goin to have to drill out the locks should be fun. I want to get a basket for the roof one day. Its a daily driver right now so cant go nuts with it just yet.
here it is without the running boards. Needs bigger tires now looks goofy but my tires are brand spanking new.

oh and one of the first mods I want to do when I start doing stuff is get rid of the auto lock stuff on the front end. I liked my jeep manual hubs. I should have parted the jeep and kept the dana 60 and dana 44 axles hahaha

Nice looking 4Runner!  This winter might be tough for me to work on anything, I've got a baby boy on his way in December  :beerchug:

A friend of mine is going to swap his 3.0 in his early 90's truck with a 3.4.  After that swap is completed, he is going to swap a 3.4 in his 85 along with D60 front, D70 rear, and 40" Krawlers.  Should be a fun truck

Here's my buildup thread

Let me know if you need any help or have any questions.

congrats on the kid hope all is well. I have read your build up threat nice build.
This winter will be spent watching for engines. The 3.4 is supposed to be a nice engine, but like I said the price of them are up there. I can get a very low milage 3rz or 2rt cheaper than a very high mileage 3.4. I will see what I can find during winter and that will determine which way I will go.

Is the guy doing the 3.4 swap locally?

Thanks, this will be # 2, one girl, one boy and we're done :)

Check out the Denver Craiglist, I see parted out Taco's or 4Runner 3RZ and 5VZ's all the time on there.

Yeah, he's local and going to be doing 2 swaps.  I'll let him get good and then I'll save my $$ for a 3.4 in mine.
